Samsung announces UFS 5.0 storage

Samsung has announced the development of UFS 5.0.

The brand states that UFS 5.0 is the industry’s fastest Universal Flash Storage solution for mobile devices.

The new storage standard delivers sequential read speeds of up to 10.8GB/s and write speeds of up to 9.5GB/s. This is more than double the performance of Samsung’s previous UFS 4.1 solution.

The company says the improved speeds will help future smartphones and other devices run on-device AI applications more efficiently with faster response times and lower latency.

Samsung also claims UFS 5.0 is more than 40% more power efficient than UFS 4.1. It helps extend battery life while handling large amounts of data.

The storage solution comes in a compact package and will be available in capacities of up to 1TB. Mass production is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of this year.
