HUAWEI has introduced its first AI emotional companion called Smart Hanhan, unveiled during the Mate 80 series launch event in China.
Smart Hanhan is designed to offer emotional support rather than simple entertainment. It features a soft plush body mixed with silicone and plastic, measuring just 80 × 68 × 82 mm and weighing 140 grams. Inside, it runs Huawei’s Xiaoyi AI system, enabling natural conversations that adjust based on tone, mood, and context for more personal interactions.
The pet responds to voice, touch, and movement. Patting its head changes facial expressions, while gentle shaking triggers playful reactions. It is powered by a 1,800mAh battery, delivering 6 to 8 hours of active use or up to two days on normal use, with a full recharge taking about six hours.
Smart Hanhan works with HarmonyOS 5.0 phones and connects to a diary feature that saves daily interaction memories. Each unit includes a three-month SVIP membership for unlimited chats. The plush AI pet priced at 399 CNY ( PHP 3,304.24 ) quickly sold out in all three color options after becoming available on Huawei Mall.
