Pre-Ordering the Xbox One

While the Xbox One is still set for release in November, pre-orders are already up on the Microsoft site for some time. We’ve only made our pre-order this week after finally completing our Globe GCash American Express membership and using it to pay for the purchase.

The pre-order price of the Xbox One alone is $499.99 but there’s an additional $45 California state tax which makes it a total of $544.99.

(Just go to xboxone.microsoftstore.com and click on the Pre-Order button. Fill up your shipping address, the one provided by Globe GCash American Express Virtual Pay via MyShoppingBox, and once prompted for payment select America Express. The CVV code can be obtained via the GCash app in your iPhone or by dialing *143#)

The GCash American Express Card provided me with a US shipping address along with the Virtual US credit card. I just made sure I had enough funds in my GCash account so that once I make the purchase, the funds are auto-deducted from there.

After the transaction, My Shopping Box (the forwarding courier) will receive the item in their US address, ship it to the Philippines (you get to pick air or sea shipment) with the corresponding fees which is just under $6 per pound or a fraction thereof ($8.50 for electronics).

While there are several ways to pay for the XBox One, we thought Globe GCash American Express Virtual Pay made the transaction simpler. It provided the legit US address, a recognizable US credit card with no additional card charges.

We’ll have to see how it goes once shipment starts in November. You can check out more details of the GCash Virtual Pay here.

Disclosure: I used an old GCash account which was pre-loadad by Globe with some amount over 3 years ago. They also sent additional funds to the account and I used online banking (via my Secutiy Bank ATM) to add more money into the pool for the purchase.

  1. are you still going to ba taxed when it arrives here in the Philippines?

Last time mag buy ko online sa playasia.com D3 cost 1.8k, then dumaan kay buaya, yun 2k tax, lol

    • Walang tax yan.

  3. will all the features work here in the philippines?

    • I think only the Xbox live service will not be available in PH.

    • Had my xbox 360 3 years ago and I was able to play on xbox live. I dont remember how i did it but i think you just need to select another country. I am not an online player anyway so i switched to ps3.

  4. I don’t get the point here. Even if you buy it from the U.S, you would still be dependent on the local retailers for Games. Also, Datablitz will usually import XBox One/PS4 a week or so after the release. The price will either be a bit expensive or the same, but at least you don’t get the risk of Customs or the foreign vendor sending you a lemon device.

    • We wanted to be the first, or one of the firsts.

  5. Still not buying the XBOX One. Although they have removed the activation restrictions, connecting the Kinect is still mandatory and that’s quite alarming for all people out there who value their own privacy. The damage has been done and I won’t change my mind even if it’s still the same price as the PS4. As for the XBOX One exclusive titles, they didn’t entice me.

Definitely buying the PS4 for the sake of playing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and the next-gen Gran Turismo game.

    • Isn’t MGS5 available on the Xbox One too?

  6. Fail iyang X Box One.

  7. The website says $6 per pound not kilo. Also take note that electronics are generally considered class 2 which is $8.50 per pound.

  8. Dunno, I’d wait a year at least for the console’s kinks to be worked out. These next-gen consoles always seem to have a bug up their ass for the first few versions.

And that’s *if* I’m even considering this one – I love the Xbox brand, but Microsoft really fucked up with their now-backtracked decisions regarding the XB1. I’ll stick to PC until a good exclusive comes along.

  10. Decided to apply for GCASH AMEX just to preorder the PlayStation 4. Too bad the PS4 itself is currently out of stock on Amazon. Oh well, at least I can use my GCASH AMEX in other sites!

  11. Good choice pare. I have the day one edition of XBox One as well and so far I’m loving it. I’m from Los Angeles, CA btw. And anong retailer magbebenta nito? Datablitz?

  12. Today, I went to the beach with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and
said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put
the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.

She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!

  13. In storage cubbies order to create bulk candy displays
is to make sure a smooth functioning of your online store,
we offer the best products at discounted prices.

  14. Hi, I’d like to ask po yung shipping weight or yung price ng shipment ng XBox from Amazon via MyShoppingBox. I’m planning to buy one this Black Friday.

    Thanks!
