0:00So peeps, early from Yugate and first
0:02off, I just want to greet you all a
0:03happy happy new year. 2025 was indeed a
0:06good ride and we’re happy that you’re
0:07still joining us this 2026 and now Poco
0:10is starting the year with a bang with
0:12its M series, the Popo M8. This model
0:14carries so much potential and new
0:16features from what its predecessor has
0:18offered. [music] Today we’ll be talking
0:20about our experience with the unit. So
0:21cue in that intro.
0:26Design-wise, the Poco M8 is impressively
0:28thin. The ultras slim profile gives it a
0:30premium vibe and feel when you’re
0:31holding or just looking at the unit.
0:33It’s way different from its predecessor,
0:35the M7. This one is slim and curvy,
0:37while the M7 is a bit hefty and boxier.
0:40The M8 is 7.35 mm thin and weighs only
0:43178 g, which is way lighter than the 224
0:46g of the M7, making it more comfortable
0:48to hold in hand. At first glance, this
0:51phone actually reminded me of the Redmi
0:53Note 14 Pro’s look, but its design
0:55slightly differs in some ways. If you
0:57look closely, the back has that two-tone
0:58and matte texture finish. And what I
1:00like about it is that it’s not that
1:02fingerprint magnet. You will also see
1:03the Poco logo vertically at the bottom
1:05left side. Durability is also check
1:07here, having an IP68 rating, making the
1:10phone resistant to dust and water. And
1:11for extra peace of mind, the M8 still
1:13has a grayish silicone case included in
1:16the box. When it comes to buttons and
1:17ports, the SIM tray slot, speaker grill,
1:19and USB type-C port are situated at the
1:22bottom. The secondary speaker grill with
1:23the mic, and an IR blaster is located up
1:25top. The power button and volume rocker
1:27are on the right side while the left
1:29side is clean as this. So all in all,
1:31the familiar design looks great and this
1:33got a plus point for me. Now let’s talk
1:35about the display and my multimedia
1:36experience. The Poco M8 sports a 6.77 in
1:39curved AMOLED display with 100 Hz
1:41refresh rate which delivered a nice
1:43viewing experience and smooth
1:44navigation. I must say I had a great
1:46time binge watching movies, music
1:48videos, valuable leagues, reading
1:49articles, and scrolling on social media.
1:52Despite the screen being curved, I
1:53wasn’t actually bothered by the minimal
1:55glares that it shows from the sides.
1:57Vibrant colors and sharp details are
1:58there, and deep laughs are fairly
2:00accurate. For outdoor visibility, the
2:01Poco M8 is sufficiently bright and works
2:04well under the sun. Traveling and just
2:05going for casual stroll outside won’t be
2:07much of a hassle. About the audio
2:09quality, this is where the M8 falls a
2:11bit short. It is surely loud thanks to
2:13its dual series speakers and 300% volume
2:15support. However, it sounds thin and
2:18lacks a bit of punch in every beat.
2:20Don’t get me wrong, it still produces
2:21decent sound, but not as punchy and
2:23full, but that’s to be expected for a
2:25lower mid-range device. For security and
2:27biometrics, the phone can register both
2:29fingerprints and faces. Both methods
2:31work smoothly and quickly, especially
2:32the indisplay fingerprint sensor. Moving
2:34on to cameras, it may appear to have
2:36four lenses inside the square camera
2:38island, but it’s actually not. The Poco
2:40M8 carries a dual reset of its set,
2:42consisting of a 50 megapixel main sensor
2:44and a 2 megap auxiliary lens. The other
2:46circles here house an LED flash and an a
2:48specified sensor. It produces decent
2:50photographs. There’s a good amount of
2:52color in every snap. Just make sure to
2:54have enough lighting for it to capture
2:55image properly. That’s because I noticed
2:57that there are times that image likely
2:59becomes grayish if you’re not in a
3:00wellled environment. As for its zooming
3:02capabilities, don’t expect that much cuz
3:04there is no telephoto lens here. But it
3:06can decently capture close-up images
3:08with the help of AI processing. You can
3:09shoot at two times zoom and can go up to
3:11max of 10 times digital zoom. For
3:13selfies, you get a 20 megapixel shooter
3:16housed in a punch hole notch. It also
3:17does a good job handling videos and
3:19images. There’s a good amount of color
3:21vibrancy for skin tones, but lacks a bit
3:23of detail for skin textures. So, I’d
3:25suggest taking selfies in well
3:27scenarios. Night mode is pretty decent
3:28as well, especially when you’re
3:30capturing in ultra HD mode, which I
3:31often use to maximize the full
3:33capability of the rear camera. There’s
3:35also AI arrays, AI beautify, and other
3:37AI tools that are present inside the
3:39gallery app for tweaking your images. In
3:41terms of video capture, the rear camera
3:43can shoot up to 4K at 30 frames per
3:44second, while the selfie shooter can
3:46only go up to 1080p at 30 frames per
3:48second. Videos have decent sharpness and
3:50nice colors. However, with the lack of
3:52stabilization in any form, the output
3:55can be a little shaky. Regardless, both
3:57image and video capabilities of the Poco
3:59M8 are good enough for casual social
4:01media sharing. So, peeps, early Fig,
4:03right now we’re using the front-facing
4:05camera of the Poco M8, and it’s shooting
4:08at 1080p at 30 frames per second. So,
4:10this is the sample video of it and tell
4:12us your thoughts about the camera and
4:14the audio quality of this phone. Moving
4:16over to performance, the M8 is equipped
4:18with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and from my
4:20experience, the phone performed quite
4:22well. For config, our unit comes with 8
4:24gig of RAM with an extra 6 gig of
4:26virtual RAM paired with a generous 512
4:28gig of internal storage. That amount of
4:30storage is more than enough to have your
4:31favorite games and app installed. So,
4:33that’s definitely a plus. I’ve been
4:35playing Mobile Legends on this one where
4:36I maxed out the graphics. It was smooth
4:38and ran perfectly without noticeable
4:40stutters. And even my cousins loved
4:42playing on this one and even
4:43complimented how efficient the phone was
4:45during long gameplay sessions. I also
4:46tried playing Call of Duty Mobile and it
4:48was great being able to play the game at
4:50up to 90 frames per second in all game
4:52modes. However, when playing graphic
4:54intensive titles like Genshin Impact,
4:55the phone starts to struggle, but
4:57tinkering with the right settings can
4:59still provide decent gameplay. And one
5:01thing we noticed about the unit during
5:02our gameplay on Genchin Impact, the
5:04phone slowly went warm to the touch,
5:06particularly on the camera island part.
5:08It’s normal to happen though and it
5:09didn’t feel bothersome. And for those
5:11interested in the numbers slashing our
5:13benchmark results on your screen now.
5:27On the software side of things, the Poco
5:28M8 ships with Hyper OS2 on top of
5:30Android 15, which has a distinctive skin
5:33and Xiaomi specific features. The UI is
5:35still pretty much the same as previous
5:36Foco phones, so there’s isn’t anything
5:38noteworthy to discuss. The interface is
5:40simple and has a certain level
5:42customization allowing you to change
5:44icons, wallpapers, and themes to suit
5:46your style. But that’s pretty much it.
5:48Circle to search, AI beautify, AI erase,
5:51and Google Gemini are among all the AI
5:53features present on the PO M8. I must
5:55say, this setup is very similar to the
5:57Redmi phone I reviewed last time cuz
5:59they essentially both run the same OS.
6:01As for update policy, the PO M8 is said
6:03to have 4 years of OS updates and
6:05security patches, which is honestly
6:07[music] nice. Let’s now jump onto the
6:09phone’s battery life and connectivity. I
6:11know some of you might ask, why did the
6:12Poco M85G have a smaller battery pack of
6:155,520 mAh R while last year’s Poco M7
6:18had a large 7,000 mAh. We have the same
6:20question as well. Well, despite the
6:22smaller capacity, it doesn’t drain that
6:24easily. Whenever I review smartphones, I
6:26always try to use them on a daily basis,
6:29and this one got me covered the entire
6:31day. From one place to another, it
6:32didn’t fail to provide me with enough
6:34juice. [music] Then if it ever drains
6:36the battery, it supports 45 W of
6:38charging that gets the phone back to
6:40100% in no time. Not to mention, the
6:42Poco M8 has 18 W of reverse wire
6:44charging, too, adding a bit of
6:46convenience to charge other devices and
6:48accessories. Of course, we’re on our
6:50usual FC Mark battery life test, and it
6:52was able to record 20 hours and 40
6:54minutes of uptime. It’s actually an
6:56interesting result since it’s almost the
6:57same result as a Poco M7, considering it
7:00has a smaller capacity. Connectivity
7:02wise, you have the essentials here,
7:03including 5G, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, Wi-Fi
7:065, and as usual, a built-in IR blaster.
7:09As of recording this video, sadly, we
7:11haven’t received any pricing info for
7:12the PO M8 series just yet. But for
7:15reference, the Poco M7 4G that went out
7:17last year had a starting price of 7,499
7:20pesos for the 6 gig plus to the 8 gig
7:22variant, while the 8 gig plus 256 gig
7:24variant goes up for 8,499 pesos.
7:27However, since the Poco M8 is 5G enabled
7:30already, we expect it to have a higher
7:31price tag. And once we get to pricing
7:33details, we’ll have it in the
7:34description box or comment section
7:36below.
7:37Wrapping things up, the Poco M8 proves
7:39that the Poco M series is no longer just
7:41about affordability. From the moment you
7:43pick it up, the Ultras 3D curved design
7:45immediately stands out. It’s easily the
7:47thinnest and one of the most comfortable
7:49phones Poco has ever released in this
7:51lineup, making it feel far more refined
7:52than its predecessor. What truly
7:54elevates the experience are the nice
7:55display, smooth performance with 5G
7:57connectivity, and solid battery life.
7:59All things considered, the Poco M8 is a
8:02well-rounded, thoughtfully designed
8:03smartphone that blends style,
8:05performance, and practicality. If the
8:07price is right, this could easily become
8:09one of the most compelling value phones
8:10in the market today. And that’s a clear
8:12sign that Poco’s M series has seriously
8:14leveled up. And that’s about it. How
