0:00Special edition smartphones often focus
0:02heavily on their visual appeal. That
0:05said, it seems the new Poco X8 Pro Iron
0:08Man edition doesn’t only give that
0:10thematic look, but also attempts to
0:12combine a collector’s phone with capable
0:14hardware. From the glossy Iron Man
0:16themed back panel to the custom software
0:18interface, this phone embraces the
0:21genius billionaire Playboy
0:22philanthropist aesthetic throughout the
0:24entire experience. However, beyond the
0:27Tony Stark vibes, how does the phone
0:29handle everyday tasks? Hello from the
0:31other side, CJ here. In this review,
0:34we’re taking a closer look at how the
0:35Poco X8 Pro Edition performs. Can this
0:38be your next lady driver? Let’s find
0:41out.
0:43First up, let’s talk about how the phone
0:45looks. As the name suggests, the Poco X8
0:48Pro Iron Edition features design
0:50elements inspired by the fictional hero.
0:52And we see that immediately out of the
0:54box. You get a glossy back panel
0:56featuring a full Iron Man themed print.
0:58Though the finish is smooth and
0:59reflective, which can be a bit of a
1:01fingerprint magnet. Thankfully, it does
1:03come with a case that follows the same
1:05theme. It fits snugly and compliments
1:07the Iron Man motive while adding minimal
1:09bulk. And if you look closely, you can
1:11see
1:13that Iron Man engravingish
1:17inside. And here’s the back. Its edges
1:20provide extra grip which helps when
1:22using the phone for extended periods
1:24whether gaming or browsing. Despite the
1:26flashy design, the phone itself is wellb
1:28built and the front panel is protected
1:30by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i which should
1:32help repel scratches and minor bumps.
1:34The phone is 8.38 mm thin and weighs
1:38about 201 g. It bends comfortably in the
1:40hand and feels similar in size to many
1:43current mid-range and upper mid-range
1:45smartphones. The phone also carries an
1:47IP68 rating, meaning it’s resistant to
1:49dust and capable of surviving immersion
1:51in water for a short time. While this
1:54doesn’t mean that we should be
1:55intentionally dunking the phone
1:57underwater, it does add some peace of
1:59mind for everyday situations like
2:01accidental spills or a sudden rain. And
2:03in the Philippines, that helps a lot.
2:16Flip the phone over. It features a 6.59
2:19in AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution
2:22that translate to 2756 x 1268 pixels.
2:26The panel supports 100 Hz refresh rate.
2:28Brightness is another strong point. The
2:30display can reach 3500 nits of peak
2:32brightness with 2,000 nits in high
2:34brightness mode or HPM and 800 [music]
2:36nits typical brightness. In daily use,
2:38this means the screen remains readable
2:40even under harsh sunlight. The display
2:42also supports HDR10 plus and Dolby
2:45Vision, allowing compatible streaming
2:47content to take advantage of improved
2:48contrast and color accuracy. There’s
2:50Dolby Atmos support here as well,
2:52complemented with stereo speakers
2:54capable of producing clear and
2:55sufficient loud audio for videos, games,
2:57and music. That said, the speaker
2:59quality could be better in my opinion.
3:02While they are perfectly usable, the
3:04overall output lacks some depth and
3:05fullness, but it does have good highs
3:08and decent mids nonetheless. For
3:09security, the phone uses an indisplay
3:11fingerprint sensor which works quickly
3:13and reliably in most situations. Face
3:15unlock is also available as an
3:17additional option for quick access.
3:19Overall, the display remains one of the
3:21highlights of the device, being able to
3:23offer good color reproduction and smooth
3:24visuals for both everyday use and media
3:27consumption. Talking about the cameras,
3:28the Poco X8 Pro IM Edition features a
3:31dual rear camera setup. The main camera
3:33uses a 50 megapixel sensor with optical
3:35image stabilization. The second camera
3:38is an 8 megapixel ultrawide lens and for
3:40selfies you get a 20 megapixel front
3:42camera. In good lighting, the main
3:44camera captures detailed images with
3:46balanced colors. Photos taken outdoors
3:48generally show good clarity while indoor
3:50shots remain usable as long as lighting
3:53conditions are reasonable. Like most
3:55ultra wide cameras in this class, it
3:57offers more framing flexibility but
3:59slightly lower detail compared to the
4:01main sensor. Selfies appear clear in
4:03good lighting and are suitable for
4:05social media or video calls. Meanwhile,
4:07video recording on the rear camera
4:08supports 4K at 60 frames per second and
4:11benefits from electronic stabilization
4:13and the OIS on the main sensor. This
4:15combination makes the footage look more
4:17stable while achieving the high
4:19resolution and high frame rate quality.
4:21The front camera though is limited to
4:221080p at 60 frames per second. This is a
4:25sample video of the Poco X8 Pro Edition
4:28shooting at 1080p at 60 frames per
4:30second using the front camera. So, this
4:32is what it looks like.
4:35Yeah. So, what do you guys think? Do you
4:37like it? Let us know in the comment
4:38section below. Overall, the camera setup
4:42focus on providing a reliable main
4:44camera while including an ultra wide
4:46lens for additional shooting
4:47flexibility. Powering the Poco X8 Pro
4:50Edition is the Music Dimensity 8500
4:52Ultra. And our review unit came with 12
4:54GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. You can
4:57see our benchmark results here in Anut2u
5:00version 11. It achieved over 2 million
5:02points, which is honestly a solid score.
5:04In 3D Mark Wildlife, it managed to get
5:06maxed out. And testing it out for
5:08Wildlife Extreme, which is a more
5:10demanding graphical benchmark, it got
5:12about 23 FPS of average frame rate.
5:26Setting the numbers aside, the phone
5:28feels smooth and responsive for everyday
5:30use. App launches are quick, navigating
5:32through the interface is a breeze, and
5:34multitasking is handled pretty well
5:35thanks to the generous RAM. Switching
5:37between apps really result in reloads,
5:39and the overall experience feels
5:41consistent. Gaming performance benefits
5:43from this upgraded hardware as well. In
5:45Mobile Legends, the phone runs the game
5:46smoothly at 120 fps, even with high
5:49graphic settings. In [music] our
5:50experience, it didn’t stutter one bit
5:52during team fights where multiple
5:54effects are happening on the screen.
5:56Meanwhile, more demanding titles push
5:58the chipset further, but surprisingly,
6:00the phone managed quite well. In
6:02weathering waves, the phone is capable
6:03of running the game at maxed out
6:05settings with almost little to no lag,
6:07even during combat sequences. However,
6:09the trade-off becomes more noticeable in
6:11terms of thermals. When running
6:13Withering Waves at these maxed out
6:14graphical settings, the phone starts to
6:17heat up fairly quickly in less than 5
6:18minutes of gameplay. The heat is most
6:20noticeable near the upper portion of the
6:23device. While the phone remains
6:25playable, the increase in temperature is
6:26something that users may notice during
6:28extended gaming sessions, but that’s to
6:31be expected. So, I’d suggest keeping the
6:33graphics settings to low or medium to
6:35maintain a relatively cooler thermal.
6:37Overall, the Poco X8 Pro Edition
6:40delivers strong performance for its
6:41class. Benchmark results in real world
6:43usage both point to a capable chipset
6:45that can handle everyday tasks and
6:47demanding games. The Bo X8 Pro IM
6:49Edition runs on Xiaomi Hyper OS3 but on
6:52top of Android 16. The interface feels
6:55smooth and responsive mainly because
6:56it’s using strong hardware. Navigating
6:58through menus, switching between apps,
7:00and performing everyday tasks rarely
7:02result in stutters or slowdowns. Because
7:04this is the IM edition, the software
7:06experience also carries a unique theme
7:08that reflects the collaboration. The
7:10Iron Man UI elements appear across the
7:12system from wallpapers and custom app
7:14icons, giving the phone a more thematic
7:17feel compared to standard versions of
7:18the device. This theme ties in with the
7:21overall design of the phone and helps
7:22reinforce the Iron Man branding
7:24throughout the user experience rather
7:26than limiting it to just the exterior
7:28design, and to me that is a nice touch.
7:32Furthermore, customization options
7:34remain with Hyper OS’s strengths. Users
7:36can adjust themes, icon styles, and
7:38system layouts to suit their
7:39preferences. The interface also includes
7:41several useful features such as floating
7:43windows, split screen view, and a suite
7:45of AI tools like Xiaomi HyperAI,
7:47including Google Circle to search and
7:49Gemini. However, like many Xiaomi
7:51devices, the phone comes with several
7:53pre-installed apps. These contribute to
7:55a certain level of bloatware, although
7:57many of them can be uninstalled or
7:59disabled if you don’t want them. That
8:01reminds me, you can watch our video
8:02about what’s new with Hyper OS3. It
8:04includes some tips and tricks like
8:06disabling ads and whatnot. Despite this,
8:08the overall UI experience remains
8:10reliable. Battery wise, the PO X8 Pro
8:13Edition features a 6,500 mAh battery,
8:16which is larger than what most phones
8:18offer nowadays. In our PC Mark battery
8:20test, it garnered a result of 16 hours
8:22and 47 minutes. That’s enough to
8:24comfortably get you almost an entire day
8:26of use, even if you’re gaming, streaming
8:29videos, or doom scrolling through social
8:31media. Charging [music] is fast thanks
8:33to 100 watts wired charging, which
8:35refills the phone from zero to 100 in no
8:37time. The phone also supports up to 27
8:39watts of reverse wired charging, [music]
8:41allowing it to charge other devices or
8:42even other accessories over wired
8:44connection. There’s still no bypass
8:46charging here, but just like its Pro Max
8:48sibling, the Poco X8 Pro has this smart
8:51charging [music] feature that
8:52automatically adjusts charging speed
8:55based on the battery level, temps,
8:57[music] and usage. One caveat though,
8:59there’s no charging brick in the box.
9:01It’s disappointing, but I’m not
9:02surprised at this point since every
9:04other company is doing it. But for a
9:06special limited edition, it would be
9:08cool to see a custom Iron Man themed
9:10power brick. You do get a red cable
9:12[music] though, so at least we get
9:14something. Connectivity options include
9:16dual nano SIM with 5G support, Wi-Fi 6,
9:19Bluetooth, GPS, and USB, and NFC.
9:22However, there’s still no eim support,
9:24so that’s something to keep in mind.
9:26Now, here comes a verdict. The Poco X8
9:28Pro IM Edition surely focuses on
9:30performance, battery life, and
9:32multimedia features while adding a theme
9:34design that appeals to Marvel fans
9:36alike. Its AMOLED display is sharp and
9:38bright. The Demenity 8500 Ultra chip
9:40handles everyday tasks and gaming well,
9:43and the large battery helps the phone
9:44last through longer use. Gaming
9:46performance is generally strong, though
9:48very demanding titles may require small
9:51adjustments to graphics settings to keep
9:53thermals cool. And while the dual camera
9:55setup is relatively simple, the main
9:57sensor provides dependable results for
9:59casual mobile photography. As of making
10:01this video, we don’t have the official
10:03price tag for the Poco X8 Pro Edition
10:05just yet. But if the price is right, for
10:08you who are looking for a phone with
10:09strong overall performance, solid
10:11battery life, and a distinctive design,
10:14the Poco X8 Pro Edition is a phone worth
10:16looking into.
