0:00So, peeps, early if you got tech, and
0:02we’re back with another comparison
0:04review. What makes this one interesting
0:05is that these phones come from Xiaomi’s
0:07sub-brand. We’ll be having the Poco X8
0:10Pro Max up against the Redmi Note 15 Pro
0:12Plus. Both models are literally priced
0:14the same at 26,000 pesos. And for the
0:17price, which one offers value for money?
0:19We’ll find out in this comparison
0:21review. Roll that intro.
0:25Starting with the design, both the Poco
0:27X8 Pro Max and the Redmi Note 15 Pro
0:29Plus strive to give off a premium look,
0:32but they do so in different ways. Our
0:34Poco unit is in the white colorway
0:36splashed with some subtle design lines.
0:38It has a smooth satin finish that helps
0:40avoid fingerprints paired with a metal
0:42frame. However, the back feels a bit
0:44plasticky in the hand that already takes
0:46away that premium feel. Meanwhile, the
0:48Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus went for a full
0:50leather back panel that feels a bit soft
0:53while also fairly resisting
0:54fingerprints. For extra protection, both
0:56the Poco and Redmi sport some
0:58flagship-level IP ratings despite their
1:01mid-range standing. The X8 Pro Max comes
1:03with an IP68 water and dust resistance,
1:06while the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus has
1:08both IP68 and 69 ratings offering
1:10stronger protection against water
1:12submersion. Flipping over to the front
1:14side, the two sport the same large
1:16screen of 6.83-in AMOLED display with
1:191.5K resolution and a smooth 120-Hz
1:22refresh rate. Colors are vibrant, blacks
1:24are deep, and the thin bezels makes the
1:26viewing experience feel more immersive
1:28for both models. The Poco comes with a
1:30layer of Gorilla Glass 7i on top, while
1:33the Redmi has a stronger Gorilla Glass
1:35Victus 2 offering better drop
1:36protection. Audio-wise, both phones
1:38features dual stereo speakers with Dolby
1:41Atmos support and up to 400% volume. The
1:44listening experience is quite similar
1:46with decent sound stage and a tad bit
1:48immersive as both phones can get really
1:50loud. But, we’d recommend setting the
1:52volume below 100% since it tends to get
1:55muffled at higher volumes. For
1:57biometrics and security, both share the
1:59same setup including face unlock and an
2:01under display fingerprint sensor.
2:03However, only the Poco features a more
2:06secure ultrasonic fingerprint scanner as
2:08compared to Redmi’s optical sensor.
2:10Moving on to cameras, both the Poco X8
2:13Pro Max and the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus
2:15can take really good photos, but they
2:17focus on different strengths. One leans
2:19more on balanced shots and video
2:20features, while the other pushes higher
2:22resolution and more natural-looking
2:24photos. The Poco X8 Pro Max comes with a
2:2750-megapixel main shooter with OIS
2:29paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide.
2:32Up front, there’s a 20-megapixel sensor
2:34for selfies. On the other hand, the
2:36Redmi also has a dual rear setup
2:38consisting of a 200-megapixel main
2:40shooter with OIS and an 8-megapixel
2:43ultra-wide. And for selfies, it uses a
2:4532-megapixel front camera. We took
2:47side-by-side photos of the same subjects
2:50and the quality of the image was very
2:52close. Photos from the main camera come
2:54out sharp with vibrant and accurate
2:55colors, while dynamic range is
2:57surprisingly good, too. The processing
2:59doesn’t overdo things, so images look
3:02closer to real life. Video recording on
3:04the Poco reaches up to 4K at 60 frames
3:06per second, which already gives it an
3:07advantage for smoother footage.
3:09Stabilization is solid, too, although
3:11video sometimes look a little dim and
3:13washed out. On the Redmi, video quality
3:15is good at one times, but stabilization
3:18at 4K at 60 frames per second is
3:20noticeably weaker compared to the Poco.
3:22Selfies, Early Gadget Tech. Right now
3:24we’re using the Poco X8 Pro Max
3:26front-facing camera and it’s shooting at
3:281080p at 60 frames per second. Selfies,
3:30Early Gadget Tech. Right now we’re using
3:32the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus front-facing
3:34camera and it’s shooting at 1080p at 60
3:36frames per second. So, tell us your
3:38thoughts about the camera capability of
3:39this phone. Now, let’s talk about the
3:41phone’s performance. Both phones carry
3:43total different chipset. The Poco X8 Pro
3:46Max features the MediaTek Dimensity
3:479500S, while the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus
3:51has the Snapdragon 7S Gen 4 onboard. The
3:54Poco X8 Pro Max and the Redmi Note 15
3:56Pro Plus are more than capable for daily
3:58use, multitasking, and gaming. But,
4:00between the two, the Poco does offer
4:02more processing power, inching closer to
4:05flagship territory. Taking a look at our
4:07benchmarks, Poco had an insanely high
4:09number of 3 million score, while the
4:11Redmi only got 1 million score.
4:22Gaming is really the highlight of the
4:24Poco X8 Pro Max. We tried playing it on
4:26demanding games, and it can handle them
4:28quite smoothly at medium to high
4:30graphics. For more graphic intensive
4:32games, you may have to set expectation
4:34for Redmi. Games like Genshin Impact and
4:36Modern Waves are playable, but on the
4:38Poco, it handled everything without
4:40breaking a sweat. Battery-wise, the Poco
4:43X8 Pro Max packs a huge 8,500 mA
4:45capacity with support for 100 W
4:48charging. That same charging support
4:50goes our Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus.
4:52Although the phone features a smaller
4:54battery pack rated 6,500 mA.
4:57Because of that huge difference in the
4:59battery pack, they got results that
5:01really sealed the deal in this segment.
5:03In our video loop test, the Poco X8 Pro
5:05Max pumped out a good result of 33 hours
5:07and 20 minutes, while the Redmi Note 15
5:10Pro Plus got 29 hours and 26 minutes.
5:13Still no bypass charging here, but I
5:14guess that won’t be necessary since the
5:16phones can charge fast enough reducing
5:18downtime. Now, let’s move over to the
5:20software side of things. Both Poco and
5:22Redmi now runs on the latest HyperOS 3
5:25based on Android 16. Weirdly enough, the
5:27Redmi did ship with HyperOS 2 Android
5:2915, while the Poco already run HyperOS 3
5:32Android 16 out of the box. So, while
5:34they’re both promised to get 4 years of
5:36major OS upgrades and 6 years of
5:38security patches, the Poco X8 Pro Max
5:41should get up to Android 20 if Poco kept
5:44their word. As for the Redmi Note 15 Pro
5:46Plus, since it already had one major
5:48upgrade and that’s up to Android 19. In
5:51terms of UI design, one thing’s for
5:53sure, they’re very much alike. They both
5:55come with tons of customization options
5:57along with an inspired look that feels
5:59generally smooth to our liking. Some
6:01bloatware is still present here and
6:02system ads or Xiaomi first-party ads can
6:05be intrusive at times.
6:06Connectivity-wise, both phones have all
6:08the necessary connectivity features such
6:10as Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi 6, and an IR
6:14blaster. I’m also glad to report that
6:16eSIM is already supported on both
6:18devices. Wrapping things up, both phones
6:20are really good mid-range choices, but
6:23they shine in different ways. For the
6:24same price at 25,999
6:27pesos for the 12GB plus 256GB, the Poco
6:30X8 Pro Max is definitely the better pick
6:33for gamers and heavy users. Its stronger
6:35performance and longer battery life
6:37being its key highlights here. Value for
6:39money is well covered. Meanwhile, the
6:41Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus feels more
6:43premium in design, well protected even,
6:46and it takes more natural-looking
6:47photos. This make it great for everyday
6:49users who like photography and style, as
6:52well as for those who cared about having
6:53extra protection. So, if you want the
6:55best power for gaming, go with Poco, but
6:58if you want a stylish phone with a great
7:00cameras, the Redmi is a smart choice
7:02too. So, there you have it. What do you

7:07Poco versus the Redmi? Which one would
