Facebook to start axing Likes on your FB Page

Facebook today announced that it categorically disliked the willful buying of Facebook Likes and will start cracking down on FB Pages.

Facebook has always been doing some automated means to reduce the number of fake accounts and made-for-sale FB Likes.

What they’re doing now is ramping up on their efforts.

To be clear, we do not and have never permitted the purchase or sale of Facebook Likes as we only want people connecting to the Pages and brands with whom they have chosen to connect. Beyond the need to maintain authentic relationships on Facebook, these third-party vendors often attempt to use malware or other forms of deception to generate fraudulent Likes, which is harmful to all users and the internet as a whole.

As such, FB Pages will be affected with the clean accounts only experiencing less than 1% decrease in FB Likes.

However, other FB Pages might suffer significant decrease in their count. Facebook did not say whether they’re working on FB Likes used to manipulate votes and Like contests. We think that issue needs more attention as well.
