Here’s another web-based IM client – imo.im. The service runs on Lighttpd, Pidgin (formerly Gaim), Ubuntu, and YUI. They have a blog here and looks like they’re the same guys running Aryty of Gorilla Mobile.
If you go to that page, a Certificate Authority window will po-up which is kinda annoying. I then tried to log in to all the 4 IMs supported — YM, AOL, GTalk and MSN. However, I got confused a bit since there’s only one buddy list showing up on the page and it’s a little hard to identify which IM is which contact you are looking though I think the icons beside the handles would indicate that.
My biggest wish for such web apps — individual IM settings panel which allows me start-up or login settings. I would appreciate it if I could set my status to invisible at login.

Hmm.!.. it is a post I’m willing to take a bullet for. Undoubtedly hits the mark. I have some minor concerns but I don’t want to begin a long post and someone could possibly flame me. Just wish to keep this blog civil and clean. Wouldn’t like any hatemail would i? lol Keep it up!
hi this is najee
the big benefit is that since it’s web-based you can use it through a lot of firewalls that would otherwise block.
same features to Trillian Messenger.. the only difference is.. Trillian is not web based.
We mentioned imo.im on the Aryty blog yesterday as many Filipino’s use IM to keep in touch. The company is not affilited with Aryty or Gorilla Mobile however. It just seemed like a cool and helpful service which is why we included the company in our blog. It’s also the only one I’ve seen that allows group chats with buddies from any of your messenger list. I had a chat session with 15 ppl yesterday from 3 diffferent messengers. All after work of course. :)
