Facebook recently announced that it will soon rollout new features for your mobile profile page and one of them is called ‘profile videos’ that will allow you to use looping video clips as your profile photo.

When the feature becomes available on the Facebook mobile app, you can then shoot clips and upload them on your Facebook mobile profile page and use them as your profile picture. Facebook says that profile videos will “show a part of yourself you couldn’t before, and add a new dimension to your profile.”

Oh great. More ways to suck your already precious bandwidth by putting videos as profiles.

On the other hand, I’m guessing they will just fallback to pictures when on data, or just not allow it when on free data. Like what is being implemented right now.

I just hope the former is defaulted to show pictures rather than setting the video profiles as default. Though I doubt that will happen, since they forced everyone to enable the video play on FB.
