This review unit of an Intex Envy Android tablet arrived last week. It’s an affordable 7-inch Froyo tablet that comes with a resistive screen (reason why they’re able to make it that cheap).

For Php6,995 you’re getting a Cortex A9 chip running at 1GHz. See complete specs below:

It’s got an HDMI port that allows you to play up to 1080P full HD videos to an external display. Weird though that the OS is looking for cellular service when there’s no SIM card slot embedded in the tablet.

The battery like isn’t the best and only lasts for about 4 hours on WiFi.

Not the most impressive tablet in its category but for the really budget-conscious (I mean, those who don’t have Php10k and above to spare for a tablet), this is more than enough. Would be interesting to compare it with that popular Kingcom Joypad.

Suggested retail price is Php6,995.

Please help I just bought an intex envy last week ago, so far it meets my expectations, the only problem is my wifi stop responding, it automatically turns off and cannot scan for a wifi spot. how can i fix it? help me +63916*******

got this from hello in sm north. i think it’s the best entry tablet out there if you’re on a budget( especially for people like me who’s not always after the best and latest gadgets). the responsiveness of the touchscreen isn’t as good as Samsung’s or the Ipad, but isn’t as bad as you might think either. besides, it came w/ a free stylus. wifi is pretty fast. was good for about 7 hours playing games and videos. might be less if wifi was on all the time though. personally, i think it’s a great buy.

Sorry for my post ^ I didn’t really take the time to reconsider the price but this is still not worth it.

Tablets are made for portability that this android version and 4 hours battery life is just lame. I recommend to buy a netbook instead.

Hope you can also make a review of Kingcom’s Joypad… I’m actually thinking of buying one for my dad, he’s really fond of using touchscreen devices, and doesn’t care if it is capacitive or resistive and I think the Joypad’s a real good pick for my budget… :>

Looks like crap. Shame about the specs though. That Cortex A9 with a Mali-400 GPU (same as the SGS II’s GPU) is juicy as hell. I would gladly pay more for a capacitive touchscreen, WSVGA res, and better battery life.

If that’s the case, then I suggest you get the 7″ Galaxy Tab WiFi at 15k.

Why would I bother with a Cortex-A8 device? not to mention a crippled version of the original Galaxy Tab 3G with a downgraded GPU. S5PC110 > OMAP 3630. That’s a bad recommendation you just made.

If anything, it’s the upcoming Acer Iconia A100 for me (if I can live with the battery life…), Archos 80 G9 (very competitive specs overall regardless of which tablet you compare it to), or the upcoming Lenovo IdeaPad A1 which is basically Galaxy Tab Wifi 7″ specs for $199.

@kyle because that’s the closest to what you described and the ones you really wanted are not yet available in the Philippines. Can’t recommend devices that aren’t available locally.

If you like Archos, try the Archos 70 as well at 14k. It’s also available in the Philippines.

However you rub it, some people will still buy this thing. This is the better alternative for the china-made ones, primarily because the warranty and the processor. Keep in mind that you cannot get a 1Ghz from a decent OEM for under 10K. And 1ghz is a make or break for an android tablet, because of the Flash support.

The resistive screen though would really make a huge difference. It can really downgrade the android experience. Some people won’t care though.

I think if they made this capacitive, the price won’t mark up that high.3K difference would be enough, I guess, so they better release a capacitive variant.

what a waste of a decent processor.

froyo + resistive + 4 hour battery + a bezel that looks like it’s just asking for scratch marks

it would have been great 2 years ago. passable a year ago. but this year, with the tablets that are already out, no way. there are more decent (china even) ones out there at that price.

just because you get a review unit doesn’t mean you gotta recommend it everytime, you know? even for budget-conscious buyers.

Kingcom’s JoyPad is actually among the most popular tablet under Php10k so I think it’s reasonable that this unit can compete in that price range.

If this used a capacitive touchscreen it would’ve been a no-brainer to buy. The difference between capacitive and resistive touchscreens are hugely noticeable upon usage. :(
