Highly-anticipated successor to OnePlus’ first smartwatch will be unveiled next week at MWC 2024. First Generation of the OnePlus Watch was launched in 2021.
Teasers began circulating this week on social media channels commonly used by OnePlus to hint at upcoming product announcements. A brief clip shows off the watch’s circular design with two prominent side buttons, drawing inspiration from the unique camera housing of the recently-launched OnePlus 10 Pro.
Sources familiar with OnePlus’ plans have stated the Watch 2 will launch on February 26th which is the same event date of MWC 2024. This lines up with previous projections and provides under a week’s notice for any final details to leak out. Specifications might include an AMOLED display measuring 1.43 inches along with the powerful Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chip. This will allow for improved performance and battery life over the original Watch.
Perhaps most exciting, the OnePlus Watch 2 is rumored to run Google’s latest Wear OS platform out of the box. A step-up upgrade from the Watch 1’s proprietary software and should offer better app selection and integration with Android devices. With a refined design and key spec bumps, the Watch 2 might be a worthy successor if it can deliver on its leaked promise.
