New leaks are giving an early look at the possible chipset and camera features of the upcoming OnePlus 16, even though the phone is still months away from its official launch.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 16 may run on a new processor called the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. Earlier reports suggested the device would use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, but the new leak says OnePlus could instead use the more powerful SM8975 chip.
The report also claims the chipset may be paired with LPDDR6 RAM, which is expected to be the next generation of memory for flagship phones. A separate leak also suggested that Samsung’s future Galaxy S27 Ultra might use the same processor.
In terms of cameras, the engineering sample of the OnePlus 16 is said to include a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. A periscope lens helps phones take clearer zoom photos by using a different lens setup inside the device.
Other rumored features include a large 9,000mAh battery with support for 120W wired fast charging. The phone may also come with an improved ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and a BOE X5 OLED display.
The display is expected to support a 240Hz refresh rate, which could make scrolling and animations appear smoother on the screen.
Since these details come from leaks and early test devices, the final specifications of the OnePlus 16 may still change before its official release.
