Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2012 has started moments ago and one of the things Apple has announced that most people are looking forward to is iOS 6.
Here are just some of the things you can expect to receive on the next update:
Siri Enhancements
• You can ask Siri the score of a game (e.g. NBA, NFL) and she’ll be glad to give you an answer. I doubt Siri is going to cover PBA.
• Can provide player stats.
• Can provide restaurant info through OpenTable and Yelp.
• Movie info through Rotten Tomatoes
• Siri can launch apps.
• Car integration
• Will be available to the iPad
Facebook Integration
• Easier posting of statuses, photos, locations, Safari websites, etc, on Facebook. All accessible from the Notifications Center
• Events and birthdays will automatically show in the Calendar.
Enhanced Phone App
• Lets you reply to a missed call with a text message or just remind yourself to call back.
Do Not Disturb
• Stops the phone from bothering you with push notifications or text messages during a set time period. In other words, it prevents people from annoying you during your quiet times without putting your phone in Airplane mode.
FaceTime over Cellular Data
• You can now use FaceTime over cellular networks and not just WiFi.
Passbook
• A mobile digital wallet of your tickets, coupons, gift cards, etc.
All new Maps
• Local business search built into maps
• Yelp integration
• Anonymous, real-time traffic info from iOS users
• Turn by turn navigation
• Siri integration
• 3D mapping
• Doesn’t have anything similar to Google’s StreetView but has the Flyover (aerial view).
Will support iPhone 3GS and later, 2nd and 3rd Gen iPad (No support for the 1st Gen iPad) iOS 6 will be released in the later part of this year.

No exciting new features for me. So even if the 3rd gen iPod touch is not supported, it is just fine.
luiboowee says:
You forgot to mention Photo Stream sharing with comment features, sir. hehe. And, you can now “like” an app in app store.
Marcelino says:
Nagpaka-puyat ako last night for this.
Medyo na-disappoint ako. Those features should’ve been added umpisa pa lang.
iOS is getting boring. :|
luiboowee says:
The Passbook apps provides a room for NFC technology. I don’t think this is GPS-based. Kasi daw, when you arrive in a movie house, for example, the Passbook app will be launched automatically then instantly show your purchased tickets. Same goes with the coupons you’ll redeem from a certain deal. I really think the 6th gen iPhone will feature this NFC technology. From the word itself palang, Passbook, parang other word for “wallet”. Think of the possibilities: Sureseats, Groupon, Jollibee, BDO, Ticketnet/Ticketworld, etc.
If some people predict that phones can replace ATMs and credit cards, we might also see our devices replace coupons, tickets, and even passports. hehehe.
jozef says:
another feature was call back message, same with ICS. When you decline/reject a call you will be given option to send a message or create a reminder.

calvin says:
most of the non-Siri and Facetime enhancements are already available to Android. *yawn* Wish they could’ve come up with something more spectacular than these.
Nino says:
But i got to say iOS has now caught up with some of the best features of Android – maps with navigation, fb integration, video calling on cellular all baked in. I’m now considering getting an iphone.
Ids says:
i have a ip42 with iOs 5.1, having terrible battery and over heating issues with it.
Eduardo G. says:
the feature of “SIRI coming to the ipad” turned me down after this, siri will only be available to Iphone 4s and ‘new’ ipad.. bummer! aren’t the older gens of the ipad and iphone (+ ipods) not capable? theyre putting so much into the newly released products so that more people would switch to it, i hope app developers can create another siri, available for all.. or go jailbreak? hmmm.. but then the Maps surely will challenge google maps.

Pero at the same they’ll leave a room for dissatisfaction. Where this will be fulfilled only when they upgrade to new models. That’s business. :)
Mr. Serious says:
Let Apple be Apple, and Android be Android.
paul e. says:
It’s compatible with 3Gs? Yahoo! No need for me to buy a new phone. ;)

Nice, its innovator has some brilliant ideas.
Benchmark says:
reading some post here… it reminds me way back college days na wala namang ios or android mga phone. Just plain call and SMS.
There is no 100% perfect OS, it’s just for you to accept or like what you have, and accept the flaws, regardless it was a copy cat or not.
I may be an android user, but I don’t compare it with IOS…if I did, walang katapusang compare yan.
Bash here, bash there. Soon you will realize, “Maka call lang ako, maka-sms lang ako, maka-net lang ako, maka-take pictures lang ako, maka music lang ako…masaya na ako.”
just my idea ;)
Nino says:
Walang paki.alamanan please..

@Papapau:
Thanks for that detailed reply! :)
Anyway, there are rumors na regarding Motorola Droid Fighter/Motorola Droid Razr HD.
Sabi nila, it combines the super thin body of the Razr and the battery of the Maxx.
Now, that’s a killer phone!
