Starlink's rival Amazon LEO Internet could arrive in the Philippines Soon

Listen to article

Amazon may launch its satellite internet service, called Project Kuiper (also known as Amazon LEO), in the Philippines as early as this year, according to Henry Aguda. The service is expected to compete with Starlink.

Project Kuiper uses low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites to provide internet access, especially in areas with limited or no connection. If launched, it could give Filipinos another option for faster and more reliable internet, especially in remote locations.

The announcement was shared by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). However, there is no exact launch date yet, and more details about pricing, coverage, and availability have not been confirmed.

Amazon has been working on Project Kuiper as part of its plan to expand internet access worldwide. Like Starlink, the service aims to use a network of satellites to deliver internet directly to users on the ground.
