In a report by CNBC, they have found out relevant documents containing information about Google’s endeavor to enter this subcategory in the smartphone scene.

The Pixel Fold with a codename “Felix” is said to have the ‘most durable hinge on a foldable’ device.

FrontPageTech (FPT) and OnLeaks have both previously posted initial renders of the Google foldable suggesting that it will apply the same form factor as the well-received Samsung Galaxy Z Fold line with a cover screen for using it as a normal phone and an inner screen for tablet mode.

The Pixel Fold’s cover screen will be at 5.8 inches with the inner display spanning at 7.6 inches unfolded.

Under the hood is Google Tensor G2 chipset—the same processor underneath the Pixel 7 lineup.

It’s said to be heavier than the Galaxy Z Fold4 but will have a larger battery that will last up to 24 hours and about 72 hours in low power mode.

And the most important info, the price of the Pixel Fold sits at an upward USD 1,799 directly challenging Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold4 which has the same price point.

Google will also reportedly include free Pixel Watch with purchase of the foldable.

FPT’s Jon Prosser corroborated CNBC’s report by tweeting the specific target dates for the Pixel foldable:

Announcement: May 10
Pre-order from Google Store: May 10
Pre-order from partners / carriers: May 30
Available: June 27

CNBC said that a Google spokesperson refused to comment, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that silence means confirming the existence of a Pixel foldable. So, do take the news lightly.

We should hear more details in the coming weeks whether this whole discussion is true. Stay tuned!
