LG unveils 2nd stretchable display, expands up to half more its size

LG Display has unveiled its second iteration of a stretchable display capable of expanding up to a staggering 50% without breaking.

This 12-inch screen, showcased at LG Science Park in Seoul, can effortlessly stretch to an impressive 18 inches, all while maintaining pristine high-resolution visuals and a full spectrum of colors.

Surpassing its 2022 predecessor, this latest prototype doubles the elongation rate, leveraging a combination of innovative technologies: a specialized silicon substrate and a meticulously engineered wiring design form the backbone of this achievement.

Furthermore, the integration of micro-LEDs ensures the display to withstand over 10,000 stretch cycles, extreme temperatures, and even physical shocks, according to LG.

The potential applications of this new technology are far-reaching and aims to reshape industries from fashion and wearables to automotive and beyond.
