OpenAI has launched ChatGPT agent, enabling the platform to leverage a toolbox of agentic skills to help users complete tasks. It combines features from Operator, like its ability to interact with websites with ChatGPT’s conversational fluidity.

ChatGPT agent leverages its own virtual computer, seamlessly shifting between reasoning and action to handle complex workflows based on instructions. This includes tasks like rescheduling meetings, updating spreadsheets, or making presentations and/or reports.
Users can link services to the platform like Gmail and GitHub, helping ChatGPT agent find relevant information for your prompts. It runs on a new, unspecified AI model trained on tasks requiring multiple tools. This includes code terminals, text, and visual browsers.
ChatGPT agent will follow a gradual rollout like other OpenAI services. It’s set to be first available for ChatGPT Pro subscribers. ChatGPT Plus and Team members will be able to use it by Monday, July 21, 2025.
To try it out when it arrives, look out for a new agent mode from ChatGPT’s dropdown menu tools.
