White iPod Touch debuts, skips the upgrade

Listen to article

Along with the announcement of the iPhone 4S, the iPod Touch also got a minor update with a new White model now included in the line-up.

Sadly, there are no hardware upgrades on this one. Was hoping it would get the same specs as the iPad 2 but all they did was paint it all white.

The price looks the same in the US with the 8GB model starting at $199, 32GB at $299 and the 64GB at $399.

In the Apple Philippines Online Store, the figures are a bit skewed and somewhat more expensive than last year’s price.

iPod Touch 4G in September 2010 (Black only):
iPod Touch 8GB – Php12,490
iPod Touch 32GB – Php15,990
iPod Touch 64GB – Php21,990

iPod Touch 4G in October 2011 (Black & White):
iPod Touch 8GB – Php11,490
iPod Touch 32GB – Php16,990
iPod Touch 64GB – Php22,990

Note that the 8GB got a cut by Php1k while the 32GB and 64GB were both bumped up by Php1k.

Is it advisable to order one from the Apple online store? I’m actually excited to have the white one, plus the engraving! :) and as far as I know, authorized resellers here don’t have the product yet.. :) Thanks!

The iPod Touch is still the perfect companion to people who can’t bear to use the iPhone ie. dual-sim dumb phone users or blackberry users. All the digital media portability but without the battery life concern whether your iPhone will last you a day or not…

is it the so-called “iPod Touch 5G”? some tech blogs named it as 5th gen iTouch.

Didn’t Apple say that they lowered the prices for the iPod Touch as well?

Steve Jobs is still the best in releasing products than his new replacement.

what!? im not surprised at all cause i know that the 1ghz processor on the current ipod touch 4 is already enough for a music player and watching videos. but the price?! i think the samsung galaxy s wifi 5.0 is the clear winner here… just my 2 cents

Wow. Only Apple can make zero changes to a product except for its color and call it “new”. Debut indeed. :P

(And ouch…a price hike on the more-useful models to boot. Maybe they switched flash memory suppliers or something.)

Probably. As far as I can remember, Samsung was their supplier for their flash memory. :)

Probably that’s because China has been making this C Peel for I Touch. Maybe that is the reason why they didn’t upgrade their I touch.
