HTC Desire S coming in at Php25,990

Listen to article

I’ve been told by one of the local HTC retailers that the HTC Desire S will be available in stores this Monday with an indicative SRP of about Php25,990. Not bad for an HTC Desire re-fresh.

If you are in a hurry to get first dibs on the unit, you can pre-order at Top Electronics (see posted below) and get it at only Php23,500 (see poster for details).

HTC Desire S specs:
3.7 inches S-LCD touchscreen @ 480 x 800 pixels
1GHz Scorpion processor (Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon)
Adreno 205 GPU
768MB RAM, 512 MB ROM
1.1GB internal storage
up to 32GB on microSD
HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 2 Mbps
Bluetooth 2.1 w/ A2DP
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
5MP autofocus camera w/ LED flash
720p video recording
Front-facing VGA camera
Stereo FM Radio w/ RDS
GPS with aGPS support
1450 Li-Ion battery
Android OS, v2.3 Gingerbread

The HTC Desire S is like a carbon-copy of the original Desire with a few minor improvements. It’s possible the original Desire is already at EOL (end-of-life) and the Desire S will eventually replace it inside store shelves.

pag sa quality mas maganda ang HTC kasi metal hindi katulad ng samsung na plastic aside from that hindi sila ganun kasipag mag-update. hindi katulad ng HTC na simula lumabas hanggang sa ma-phase out alaga nila. Desire will have an upgrade by this month or by May diba?

Amoled over SLCD? I dont think so. I prefer AMOLED still. Gorilla Glass Display pa din ba to?

I’m gonna wait for EVO 3D. Sobrang dami ng developments recently sa mga smartphones. I think at some point they will be sacrificing battery life for performance na. And yeah.. 3D without glasses is awesome. :))

For people who are into hacking and customizing their phones to the fullest, desire s has a locked bootloader no custom roms, bad!!

I’ve been waiting for this phone ever since they released the update about this upgrade. But with the price tag, now I’m confused if I go for Samsung SL or other phones on the same price bracket. I’ve heard that HTC service is far better than Samsung?

i think Galaxy SL is better- with a larger screen, thinner body and lower price tag (only around 19k)

but personally, i would want to wait for Arc, Optimus Black and more powerful dual-core phones to be released. diyan na mag-uumpia ang laban! yeah!

THIS! I am really thinking about buying the Desire HD .. Though that one has a better 8MP Camera and would have Gingerbread (I’ve heard). The Desire S’ design is better, and I think 5MP is fine, and a Gingerbread out of the box :)) Also, It’s newer :D And the price is not really far from Desire HD’s

I’m also interested when the Wildfire S will come out locally. (Maybe that will force the price of the original Wildfire to come down :) )

Hey! Do you know if they make any plugins to protect against hackers?
I’m kinda paranoid about losing everything I’ve worked hard on. Any tips?

One month ago, I read that Nexus S is coming this month. I still can’t find a trace of Nexus S except for the gray market. I hope this really comes out soon.
