Chinese actress and blogger Xu Jing Lei came on the spot light over a year ago when her blog went to #1 in Technorati’s Popular 100, toppling long time favorites like Engadget and Boing-boing.
Now, she’s back in the news as the most widely read blogger in the world — 100 million pageviews in 600 days (yup, that’s 8 zeros after the 1). CNN reports she reached the 100 million mark last July 12, 2007. She started only blogging back in October of 2005. Although Xu’s blog dropped its rank down to #47 in Technorati, the sheer volume of blog readers has propelled her blog to be the world’s most widely read blogger.
At 100 million pageviews in 600 days, that’s close to around 100 visitors per second. Now, that’s a feat in itself. With 162 million internet users in China, it’s not really a wonder why she’s getting that many visitors. Another Chinese blogger, Han han, will soon pass the 100 million mark as well.
Update: Valleywag notes that this news could be slanted to totally false. 100 million pageviews in 600 days breaks down to about 166,000 pageviews a day. Allegedly, showbiz blog Perez Hilton rakes around 33 million pageviews a month or roughly just over 1 million a day.
