Would you recommend this for school computer laboratories? Kung ms office applications ang gagamitin mostly? What if adobe photoshop?

Photoshop? Probably not. Would be good to wait for better products in this space in the near future. Only benefit I can think of right now, compared to a self-built PC, is lower power consumption. The 7.9k price is just the CPU stick with 32GB SSD storage. It does not have keyboard/mouse/monitor yet.

If the Compute Stick was priced below 4k, then it would probably be a good buy. For 8k, there are a lot of Windows 8 powered tablets that are similar in specs. At least these tablets can be brought along with you unlike the Compute Stick that requires you to have a HDMI compatible display.

I just got this device for free when I subscribed to my ISP here in Singapore, but if I had to buy it, I would not because of its limitations.

meron linux version ito, pero 8 GB flash lang, at 1 GB RAM. yung windows version 32 GB flash (17.9 GB usable out of the box) at 2 GB RAM.

fyi po sa mga magaling humirit, I use this product personally. I just listed my gripes but that doesn’t mean the product is not useful. I’m using it at home and I’ve dumped my old Android MK808B tv stick, as this is still better.

sir andre, yung usb port nya ba pwedeng saksakan ng 1TB hdd? magwork din kaya dito yung rapoo wireless mouse/kb combo?

I’m sure 2.5″ hard disks will work. USB devices that require more power might not work though. Right now I only have a mouse plugged into the port; no keyboard!

hey thanks for this — I wasn’t even aware of this app! :)

It will definitely work on the Intel Compute Stick because it’s just a regular Windows 8.1 PC. Haven’t tried it (I will later!) but I guess you’ll just have to install its companion desktop software on the PC while you install the app on your Android tablet/phone.

However, this app won’t work *out of the box*, the first time you turn the device on. Lucky for me I only had a mouse plugged in but I saw the “accessibility” icon somewhere in the screen. I was able to bring up the Windows onscreen keyboard and finish the installation. Until now, I only have a mouse connected to the system and all typing is done through the onscreen keyboard.

I used to use a Mele F10 fly mouse, but it conked out :( I was using it with my MK808B Android TV stick (which I have recently retired in favor of the Intel Compute Stick)

Mas gusto ko talaga full keyboard. Konting ipon pa.

my biggest gripes with this Intel Compute Stick:

1) only one USB port. Then again, the form factor is likely the biggest factor preventing them from putting more than one. In my case I’m using it now but only with a mouse :P still saving up for a keyboard+touchpad combo that uses a single USB connector

2) this stick’s Bluetooth sucks bad. I heard that its Bluetooth and wifi capability are hosted in the same chip and only one works at a time! Hence if you’re using wifi, bluetooth stops. If you’re using bluetooth, wifi stops. The stopping-starting causes your bluetooth device (e.g. mouse) to be laggy and choppy while your wifi speed plummets. Hence, don’t use them both. :P

I guess a USB hub is a must-have for this. May nabibili bang USB hub na may sariling power adapter? I doubt I’ll be able to effectively use a USB hard disk on this if I go through a USB hub.

Sir been using yung Keyboard + touchpad combo na gusto mo. Logitech K400r to be exact. At yung sinasabi mong USB Hub na may sariling power adapter meron ‘di po. Meron din po ako non. May switch pa nga bawat port.
Interesado ako sa product na ‘to. Ang iniisip ko lang ok sana kung hindi lang HDMI sana kasi paano kung gagamitin mo sa desktop monitor at walang HDMI. Most probably sa TV mo lang magagamit ‘to.

It’s true, I’ve tried using bluetooth mouse on this chipset, I thought the mouse was defective until I turned off the wifi.
