Google Contacts has recently gotten an update in-app that makes it easier to check the backup and sync status of your contacts saved on a Google account.

Under the ‘Organize’ tab, the app now shows a new card containing essential information. It includes the total number of contacts stored to a user’s Google account and latest time they were synced to the web.

The info card reads, “Contacts stored with your Google Account automatically sync with this device and are available across Google services anywhere you sign in, including contacts.google.com.”
Once you sign-in to a different device using the same Google account, there’s a new notification saying that your synced contacts have been added to that device.
These are surely welcome additions over the previous system, where these settings were buried deep within Google Play Services.
These updates are rolling out now as part of Google Contacts version 4.49 for Android. While the changes are minor, they contribute to a cleaner UI and make managing contacts across multiple devices more streamlined.
