Recently, the upcoming prices of Cherry Mobile‘s newest Flare S7 series surfaced with the Flare S7 Plus having the most “expensive” tag in the family. Let’s take a look at how it fares against the Xiaomi Mi A2, a smartphone with almost the same price. Who will win in this specs comparison? Let’s find out below.
The Cherry Mobile Flare S7 Plus is what I would call a big upgrade from its predecessors. The Xiaomi Mi A2 is the company’s second Android One smartphone to date. It comes with a 5.99-inch 18:9 display with 2160 x 1080 resolution, Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB internal storage, 12MP + 20MP dual rear cameras, 20MP front camera, 3,010mAh battery with Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0

Here are the advantages of each:
For the display, the Flare S7 Plus wins thanks to its larger screen size, aspect ratio, and resolution. I recommend that users who are fond of watching or streaming videos pick this one. Don’t get me wrong though, the Mi A2 has a decent configuration in this aspect but the former is just better overall.
Performance-wise, the Flare S7 Plus comes with the Helio P60 chipset — the same one that the OPPO F7 and F9 have. The Mi A2, on the other hand, has a Snapdragon 660 chipset which has become the standard for mid-range smartphones nowadays.
In our review of the Mi A2, the AnTuTu score that it yielded was lower than the OPPO F7/F9 which means that the latter is better performing than the former. In the case of the Flare S7 Plus, however, we cannot pre-emptively conclude which one wins since we’ve yet to test its performance out ourselves. Although, if we’re basing it via chipset versus chipset, then the Helio P60 has the edge over the Snapdragon 660.
I always emphasize in my comparisons that higher camera resolutions do not always mean better performance. We gave praise to the Mi A2’s camera performance in our review so you’ll know that it’s worth the purchase. The Flare S7 Plus is a big question mark as its quality is yet to be known. Check our sample photos for the Xiaomi Mi A2 here.
Let’s turn our attention now to the battery. he Flare S7 Plus’ battery capacity is slightly higher than the Mi A2 but it isn’t enough to be a significant difference. We have yet to test the former’s performance so stay tuned. One thing that makes the Flare S7 Plus standout, however, is the support for wireless charging, which is often seen in flagship devices rather than in this price segment.
The Flare S7 Plus is a refreshing pick especially for users who like to watch videos, have more storage (microSD slot), and wireless charging capabilities. As for the Mi A2, it’s good in terms of connectivity (Wi-Fi ac support and Bluetooth 5.0)
The Cherry Mobile Flare S7 Plus is priced at Php11,999USD 204INR 17,334EUR 195CNY 1,489 while the Xiaomi Mi A2 is priced at Php13,990USD 238INR 20,210EUR 227CNY 1,736. What do you guys think? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Alec says:
Personally, Specs wise they’re pretty even. Merong wala si Mi A2 na meron si FS7+ and vice versa, but the price though. Expandable pa memory ni FS7+ and may wireless charging na for a mid-range phone.
Stephen Mallari says:
Im using Mi A2 for quite sometime the performance is beyond your expectation. Multi tasking while playing heavy games and downloading movies is excellent no lag no glitches.
