Samsung has unveiled its most powerful latest flagship smartphones under the Note series, the 5G. Not too long ago, Huawei also released its most powerful flagship in the country, the P40 Pro+. Now the question is, will the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G match Huawei P40 Pro+ capabilities? Find out here.

Display

Starting with the display, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G is equipped with a 6.9-inch Edge Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O Display. The Huawei P40 Pro+, on the other hand, comes with a 6.58-inch FHD+ Flex OLED Quad-Curve Overflow Display. While both devices nearly have the same screen size and same great quality, the Note 20 takes the cake for having a smoother 120Hz refresh rate.

Performance

Both devices are powered with the latest flagship chipsets from Huawei HiSilicon and Samsung Exynos. As for memory configurations, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G is armed with up 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The Huawei P40 Pro+, on the other hand, is armed with 8GB of RAM only and 256GB or 512GB of storage.

Both devices’ memory is expandable, as well. The Note 20 Ultra 5G being expandable up to 1TB via microSD card, and the P40 Pro+ up to a 256GB via NM card.

Cameras

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G has a triple-rear camera setup, while the Huawei P40 Pro+ has five or penta-rear cameras. On paper, the Note 20 Ultra 5G wins with its 108MP Advanced Hybrid Laser AF primary camera, 12MP ultra-wide, and 12MP telephoto. On the other hand, the P40 Pro+ comes with a 50MP Ultra Vision Camera, 40MP SuperSensing Cine Camera, 8MP SuperZoom Camera, 8MP Telephoto Camera, and a ToF camera.

For selfies, both have a single camera consisting of a 10MP Dual-Pixel front camera for Note 20 Ultra 5G and a higher 32MP AF for the P40 Pro+.

Connectivity & Other Features

For connectivity, both devices come with 5G, 4G LTE, NFC, and GPS. While for Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G comes with Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi 6, while the P40 Pro+ comes with Bluetooth 5.1 and WiFi 6+. In terms of biometrics, both devices have face unlock and in-display fingerprint scanners.

OS

Both devices run on Android 10, but of course, each with their skins laid on top of it. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G runs on One UI, while the Huawei P40 Pro+ is on EMUI 10.1. What sets these two devices apart is that the P40 Pro+ does not have Google Mobile Services, while the Note 20 Ultra 5G comes with it out of the box.

Battery

In terms of battery, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G comes with a 4,500mAh battery with Fast Wireless Charging 2.0, while the P40 Pro+ comes with a 4,200mAh battery and 40W Wireless SuperCharge.

  • Huawei P40 Pro+ (8GB + 512GB) – PHP 69,990

For a starting price of Php 67,990USD 1,159INR 98,218EUR 1,103CNY 8,438, you can already get a better display, larger battery, expandable storage, and Google Mobile Services with the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G. However, if you find the IR features, faster charging, and higher selfie camera resolution a plus, and don’t bother about not having Google Mobile Services, then the Huawei P40 Pro+ is a good choice. Both are equally powerful devices that are packed with many features.
