Disney Plus rates increase in Southeast Asia, new plans underway

As of this weekend, we’re preparing for Disney Plus rates to increase in Southeast Asia.

Disney+ subscribers got wind of this from receiving SMS messages about changes in subscription rates and services.

A highlighted change is the Disney+ Mobile Plan, which will now be called the Basic Plan.

The Disney+ Basic Plan lets users download content for offline use on up to three devices, with up to seven profiles, and stream content at up to FHD 1080p with Dolby Atmos.

This plan is available on phones, tablets, laptops, and TVs. Disney is charging subscribers for the Basic Plan PHP 249 monthly, and PHP 1,990 annually.

Additionally, there’s now a Premium plan for Disney+ subscribers.

Locally, the streaming platform’s Premium monthly plan rate will increase to PHP 519 (from PHP 365), while the Premium annual plan will move from PHP 2,950 to PHP 4,190.

As for the Philippines’ neighbors, Malaysia’s Disney+ Premium monthly is also up, priced at RM 39.90, while their Premium annual is at RM 289.90.

For Singapore, their monthly premium rate rose to SGD 15.98 from SGD 11.98. Meanwhile, their annual plan is now SGD 159.98.

The Disney+ monthly subscription rates now almost equal that of its main local competitor, Netflix.

But other than price, nothing’s really new with the plan. Users can still use up to four screens and stream at 4K UHD resolution.

Disney+ is set to charge subscribers with the updated amounts by April 24, 2024. But if you’re an annual subscriber prior to these changes, you’ll have more time to save up before the next payment.
