First Android One device leaks, priced at Php5K

We’ve reported about the Android One project which is basically Google’s initiative to offer low-cost devices running the company’s operating system. The first device (apart from the teased handset) is set to be launched in India on September 15, 2014, but details got leaked revealing its specs and pricing.

Price: Rs 6,999 (Php5,060)

Spice’s Dream UNO was revealed by retailer Flipkart that posted a purchase page on their website as preparation for its official launch tomorrow. In terms of specs, the device isn’t all that overwhelming, but the fact that it is priced at a converted value of Php5K gives it a competitive edge against other brands.

Stay tuned for more details as this handset, along with all the upcoming Android One devices, may possibly enter the Philippine market as well.

    • Eh kaso biglang mas matibay itong phone na to kesa sa flare s3 mong MAS basura pa…. worth the 1k lolololol. besides, kahit anong mangyari, ZENFONE 4 pa rin kukunin ko kahit hindi IPS screen nun. sadyang basura lang talaga ang mga CM.


    • Mas mauuna mag-update ng OS ang mga Android One kumpara sa Flare S3 mo.


    • @huehuehue Basura pa din ang lahat ng Intel-based phones kasi karamihan ng apps sa Google Playstore di pa din supported ang X86 architecture ng Intel, kung gumagana naman lalo na sa mga games ay 60-80% slower dahil kino-convert pa niya ala emulator (binary translation). Karamihan kasi ng app developer ay ginagamit ang ARM code sa pagawa ng apps. Mabilis sa benchmark ang Intel bubagal lang sa real world use.


  2. So basically, a cheaper “nexus” line (as if that can’t get any more weirder than it sounds) if anyone wants the bleeding edge latest android versions… and for some reason can’t afford a nexus. Specs can only bring a phone so far after all, it’s all about support.


    • I know yung comment mo was before the announcement of N6. Pero sa lumalabas ngayon, pang may pambili nalang talaga ang Nexus ngayon. Ito na yung pang-masa.

      Abangan din natin yung Ara. Daming pinagkakaabalahan ng Google. Lol.
