Sharp has announced the Aquos R11, its latest flagship smartphone featuring a new telephoto camera, a brighter OLED display, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor.
The Aquos R11 succeeds last year’s Aquos R10 and introduces several upgrades, most notably a new 38.5MP telephoto camera with a 68mm equivalent focal length and 2.9x optical zoom. The camera joins a 50.3MP main sensor and a 50.3MP ultra-wide shooter, all paired with Leica HEKTOR lenses.
Up front, the phone sports a 6.5-inch Pro IGZO OLED display with a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 240Hz. Sharp says the panel can reach up to 3,600 nits of peak brightness, making it the brightest display ever used on an Aquos smartphone.
Powering the device is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, replacing the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 found on its predecessor. The processor is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. Unlike previous Aquos models, however, the R11 no longer includes a microSD card slot.
The handset packs a 5,100mAh battery with 36W wired charging support and runs Android 16 out of the box. Sharp has committed to three Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates.
Another notable addition is the “Aquarium” light bar on the rear panel, which functions as a notification light, fill light, and ambient lighting system capable of displaying animated effects accompanied by sound.
The Aquos R11 is also built for durability, featuring Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, and MIL-STD-810G/810H certifications.
The Sharp Aquos R11 will go on sale in Japan in early July through Sharp, NTT DoCoMo, and SoftBank.
There is currently no word on international or Philippine availability.
