Canva has added a new suite of generative AI tools dubbed as ‘Magic Studio’—catering to the average user’s creative needs with ease and ingenuity.

Some of the newer tools that are rolling out now include Magic Switch, Magic Grab, Magic Expand, Magic Morph, Magic Edit, Magic Media, and more.
Magic Switch
Starting with the Magic Switch, users can effortlessly transform their designs into entirely new formats.
For instance, this feature empowers users to convert a whiteboard brimming with ideas into a company-wide email, effortlessly turn presentation slides into a captivating Japanese blog post, or seamlessly transform an Instagram ad into a visually stunning poster in Spanish.
Magic Grab
Magic Grab lets you effortlessly change the position of objects without distorting the surrounding elements.
It can select and isolate the subject of your photo, transforming it into an editable element that can be resized, repositioned, or customized with text, stickers, and more.
Additionally, Magic Grab enables you to quickly update text within an image, whether it’s a photo of a document or a screenshot.
Magic Expand
Using AI, Magic Expand, as the name implies, enhances and expands images by adding imagery that was not captured in the original photo.
With this tool, users can fix awkward framing, expand zoomed-in images, or effortlessly transform a vertical shot into a horizontal one.
Magic Morph
Magic Morph transforms any text or shape into new forms by simply providing a written prompt.
It can apply a wide range of effects to add flair and creativity to your text or shape, allowing you to quickly generate captivating elements and textures.
Magic Edit
Magic Edit empowers users to enhance, replace, or edit their images by simply providing a short written prompt.
Select the desired portion you want to change, write the prompt, and witness as the image transforms within seconds.
The tool enables users to edit the entire image, such as transforming daytime scenes into nighttime scenes.
And many more
Aside from these headliner features, there are other tools to discover in Magic Studio. These include Magic Animate, which automatically selects and positions animations and transitions in a design, bringing it to life with a touch of magic;
Magic Media has the ability to generate images and captivating videos from a simple text prompt; and an update to its existing Magic Write feature now with AI-powered ‘Brand Voice’, ensuring that users’ writing aligns perfectly with their brand’s unique tone, adding an extra touch of cleverness to their content.
Canva allocates USD 200 million for training its AI models
Canva has also announced that it will allocate USD 200 million over the next three years to compensate designers who give consent to use their content for training the company’s AI models.
Designers participating in the Creator Compensation Program will receive an initial bonus and subsequent monthly payments as long as their content remains in use.
The payment amount is determined based on factors such as the level of contribution to Canva’s content library and the frequency of usage, according to Cameron Adams, the company’s co-founder and CPO, as stated in an interview with The Verge.
All the new features in Magic Studio are now live on the official Canva website.
Some of the new AI tools will be accessible to free users with limited availability, while the majority of them will be exclusively offered to Canva Pro and Canva for Teams subscribers.
