NTC to hold public hearing for better Internet in PH

Have an opinion you want to share with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC)? You can join the live streaming event to be held this Friday.

The gathering is towards improving the quality of the Internet here in the country as well as a discussion on setting the minimum broadband speeds. Sen. Recto recently filed for a Senate Bill calling for 10Mbps as the minimum speed, but until the second quarter of 2014 we’re still at 2.5Mbps according to a report. Hopefully, these concerns will be addressed on the said event.

As seen on the details above, the hearing will be held at NTC’s head office starting 2PM this Friday, November 7, 2014. PHOpenIX will conduct a live stream over at their website. So if you have questions about our sluggish Internet speed or simply got some comments and suggestions, now is the time to voice them out.

Ok I just called http://www.ntc.gov.ph/contactus_ntccentraloffice.php NTC Consumer Welfare & Protection Division — They said they don’t have a Twitter account or anything for receiving feedback during the public consultation event.

I also asked about where I can submit complaints and they said I can send an email and they reply in 3-5 business days.

well, this is a good start. it is nice that the public is included in the hearing. i wonder what the ntc has been doing all these years. eh obvious naman na talagang ang bagal ng internet speed dito sa Pinas inspite of the fact na ang mahal ng service fee ng mga telcos. anyway, better late than never. sana lang eh may magandang patutunguhan etong hearing na eto.

ito yung problema.. gusto na natin umasenso yung speed ng mga telco natin.. pero yung quality ng service nila dami pa rin problema… daming downtime at kung may sira man.. ang tagal ayusin

actually yung nag lagay sila ng FUP , na may capping ng mga torrents sa umaga.. umasenso yung speed ko sa mga online games at video streaming

@whotocontact agree ako. since FUP (globe) last january gumanda ang signal nmin at speed consistency namin dito sa Davao. most particular during my online job.

In Lonodn, they have a decent Internet speed of 150Mbps. 2Mbps isn’t very convincing; NTC is not doing their job anymore. PLDT (a Telco Pig) is being too greedy with their service these days! Should San Miguel Corporation or Skycable buy Meralco, the tables have been turned! In Chattanooga, owning an Electric company means greater Internet Flow Control. 700 – 900Mbps is a great investment in the U.S. these days… Is 10Mbps Internet speed too much for the Philippines to handle?

In Chattanooga, we only pay US$69.99 for a 1GB DOWNLOAD/ 1GB UPLOAD speed. Not to mention that EPB’s support team are the most courteous and professional technicians we’ve had – bar none!
Even Google’s Fiber optic services pales in comparison to EPB’s (support wise and service wise).

EPB owns the grid in Chattanooga hence both power and Fiber DSL are well managed and maintained.

Compared to my PLDT Fibr connection here, the service goes down at least every month, without an assurance when the service will go back or an explanation of what went wrong.

A few years back, there was a plan by MERALCO to implement the same model as Chattanooga’s Smart Grid. It is very feasible because the infrastructure is already there. But I guess the plan was shelved when MVP became part of MERALCO.

Greed kasi ang nangingibabaw kay Manny Pangilinan. Puro panlalamang at pakabig. Kawawa talaga mga subscriber/consumers ng mga utility companies na nabili niya.

tanggalin na ang hinayupak na FUP na yan nagbabayad naman kmi, pagandahin nyo serbisyo nyo wag nyo isisi sa mga nagdadownload dahil lahat na ngayon nagdadownload mapa application man yan movies mp3 etc……
