Globe has officially launched Starlink's satellite-to-mobile service in the Philippines after receiving approval from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), making it the first local telecom operator to commercially offer direct-to-device satellite connectivity in the country. In collaboration with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), and the Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Globe has donated IMSI catcher detectors to help authorities identify and track unauthorized mobile network activity. This resulted from the Supreme Court affirming two orders from the National Communications Commission (NTC) in December 2005 and August 2008. The Supreme Court added that the NTC has ‘full discretion to assess and evaluate applicants to these frequency spectrums’. The NTC oversees the allocation process for frequencies to ensure quality. In the press statement below, the SEC noted that they have filed for a request with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to block Binance’s website.
