ICYMI: Mapua University launches PH’s first, only BS in AI Engineering

In case some readers missed it, Mapua University officially launched the country’s first and only Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineering program.

Set to begin in the 2025-2026 academic year, it aims to prepare students for the growing demand in AI-driven industries. It will be housed under the School of Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering.

The course will span four years and two terms, including 205 credit units. It’s a mix of technical depth and academic foundation courses. Mapua says that it aligns with the National AI Roadmap of the Philippines.

Topics covered include key areas of AI, like machine learning, robotics, natural language processing, and data analytics. That said, the program is set to produce competitive professionals equipped to drive AI innovation across various sectors.

Graduates of the program can pursue career opportunities in the following:

AI Engineer

Big Data Engineer or Architect

Business Intelligence Developer 

Database Developer

Machine Learning Engineer

Quantitative Analyst

Research Scientist

Software Engineer
