ChatGPT app now available for macOS users

Listen to article

Today, OpenAI announced that the ChatGPT app is now available for all macOS users. While the app initially came out mid-May, it had a slow rollout limited to ChatGPT Plus subscribers.

OpenAI notes that the ChatGPT app for Macs are meant to make it easier for users to access their platform. This makes for easier inquiries and prompts relative to emails, websites, and general content.

If users have the app installed, simply press Option + Space to bring up an interface to ask ChatGPT a question. There’s also a built-in Voice Mode for interacting with ChatGPT vocally, a search feature to look through past conversations, and more.

With the wider availability, subscribing to ChatGPT Plus won’t be necessary anymore. OpenAI even made the latest version of ChatGPT (GPT-4o) free, but with a limited number of requests.

Users can also give Siri permissions to hand complex requests over to ChatGPT.

We should expect more ChatGPT integrations with Apple devices soon. After all, OpenAI and Apple have recently established a partnership.

ChatGPT is slated for further integration into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia.
