Gapan, Nueva Ecija to provide residential internet at only PHP 50/month

Gapan City Mayor, Emerson “Emeng” Pascual, has announced on a Facebook page that the city government will subsidize the internet connection of every household.

On a live stream posted on Facebook on June 1, Mayor Pascual acknowledged the need for online learning and mentioned that only about 10% of households in the city have laptops and internet connection.

To help with the challenges, he announced that the Gapan City Government will provide fiber internet connection to every household that needs it.

The subscription is owned by the City Hall and will be connected to the city’s command center. Residents will just have to pay PHP 50 per month for a 5 Mbps connection.

The implementation will start in June.
