Chord Electronics has just launched in the country its high-end DAC/Headphone amplifier, the Mojo, which can now be purchased for Php31K.

The Chord Mojo is a small portable device that promises to bring studio quality sound whether it’s coming from your iPhone, Android phone, PC, or Mac. Of course, it is still recommended that you use a good pair of headphones and high quality audio file if you want to get the most of the DAC/Headphone amp.

Chord Mojo features:
* Small and portable.
* Case is made from precision machined aluminium
* Works with iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, Mac, PC, or Linux
* Three digital inputs – USB, Coaxial, and Optical.
* Li-Po battery charges in 4 hours with up to 10 hours of use.

Any sound engineer who can explain the pricing of a gadget that serves only one purpose? Not trolling nagtataka lang bakit mahal ang ganitong products.

Actually it’s has 2 functions.
1. It’s a digital to analog converter (DAC)
2. It’s also an amp (not a strict amp but can generate high voltage from th DAC itself to drive most headphones that amplifies the sound of the source).

The reason why it’s expensive is that the DAC chip aren’t the usual chips that can be bought from other manufacturers. They build their own DAC chips from ground-up. Meaning, all the parameters, measurements, formulas, are made by chord with the audiophile quality in mind.

It’s also expensive because chord is somewhat of a boutique audio equipment manufacturer that is well renowned for its superb sound and quality. There’s a lot of reviews on head-fi.org if you want to know more about the Chord Mojo.
