Microsoft wants to cement the commemoration of the 15th anniversary of their beloved OneDrive by creating announcing new features and a new web app that will serve as the new landing page for OneDrive called OneDrive Home.
OneDrive Home will be the new landing page when a user log’s into OneDrive. In fact, it resembles the dashboard of an online version of Office and the user.
OneDrive Home will contain a user’s files and be sorted based on what was recently accessed (like in Google Drive) and it can also be filtered out based on the type of document (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF file types)
OneDrive will also have the new “Activity” column on the right side of the ‘Owner’ file field where it’ll show activities related to the file like a comment, mentions, or an assigned task.
Going to the left side of the Home view, Microsoft added the Quick access section (Windows also has this feature) where a user can search or pin often visited pages.
Microsoft said that the OneDrive Home and other new developments will be rolled out in ‘the coming months.’
Aside from the OneDrive web app side update, Microsoft also released a new feature to the mobile side where the OneDrive mobile app will have a Photo Story feature which is identical to FB or IG stories but this feature is yet to be released in the US and other countries until later this year.
