ASUS ZenFone 4 Pro First Impressions

ASUS has just launched in the Philippines their new ZenFone 4 lineup. Leading the new family is the ZenFone 4 Pro which packs a 5.5-inch FHD AMOLED display, Snapdragon 835 CPU, 6GB RAM, and 128GB storage. Check out our initial thoughts below.

The ZenFone 4 Pro features a new premium design that is closer to the looks of the ZenFone 3 Zoom. It has a rounded metal frame with glossy chamfered edges which is cool to the touch and easy to grip.

The front is dominated by a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with Full HD resolution or equal to 401ppi. Found above it are the earpiece, sensor, and the 8MP camera.

Down below is the fixed Home button / Fingerprint scanner with backlit capacitive keys for Back and Recent Apps.

Found on the right are the volume and power/lock keys, along with a pinhole for the microphone, while on the left is the SIM card and microSD card tray. Up top are two more microphones, while down at the bottom are the headset port, USB Type-C port, microphone, and the loudspeaker.

Flip it on its back and you will be greeted by an all-glass rear, as well as the 12MP + 16MP dual cameras, and LED flash.

Thanks to the metal and glass combo, the ZenFone 4 Pro feels very premium with a decent heft at 175g. At 7.6mm, it’s also relatively thin for a device with a 3,600mAh battery. The only thing we didn’t like though is how susceptible the backside is to fingerprint and smudges.
