Cherry Mobile has finally unleashed its most popular line of smartphones under the S-series — the Flare S8 family.
The local smartphone brand has revealed its newest top-of-the-line smartphones after its success with last year’s Flare S7 series. This year, the company decided to launch three variants of the Flare S8.
The Cherry Mobile Flare S8 is the most affordable in the bunch. It comes with a notched display, Helio P23 chipset, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 13MP + 2MP dual rear cameras, 13MP front camera, and 2,800mAh battery.
The Cherry Mobile Flare S8 Pro has a larger 6.5-inch screen, Helio P22 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, 20MP + 5MP dual rear cameras, 20MP front camera, and 4,000mAh battery.
Finally, The Cherry Mobile Flare S8 Plus is the most premium among the series. It has a full-screen display which means that it has a pop-up camera mechanism. It features a 6.26-inch display, Helio P70 chipset, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, 16MP + 5MP + 2MP triple rear cameras, 16MP + 2MP dual front cameras, and 3,250mAh battery.

S8
+ Most are decent specs for its price
– 2800mah battery is underwhelming (as the others pointed out)
S8 Pro
– For a model that’s being advertised as a “gaming phone”, its SoC can’t even compete with the other brands in its price range. For example, by just adding ?500, you can go Realme 3 which has a far better P60, a chip comparable with SD 660.
S8 Plus
-Same problem with its Pro co-line but much worse, you can get better phones for but the difference is they’re actually cheaper. Good example is the Redmi Note 8 Pro. You will pay less ?300 and you will get a vastly superior G90T that’s said to be water-cooled, 64MP back/20MP front cam, and 4500mah battery. The only thing that the S8 Plus here is a pop-up camera. If you hate the screen notch so much but don’t want to spend more than 13k, sure, go for this.
However, if you’re willing to add ?2000 to your budget (?15000 is the best price/performance ratio if you change your phone every 2-3 years IMO), you can go Xiaomi 9T. It has the same pop-up camera, arguably better AMOLED screen, a SD 730 (which is also used for Samsung A80. Yes, a ?35000 phone is powered by a mid tier SoC. Typical Samsung), 48MP front/20MP back cam.
Tl;dr: S8 is decent, S8 Pro is underpowered for a “gaming” phone, S8 plus is overpriced
