Google drops Galaxy Nexus to $399 at the Play Store

Google’s Andy Rubin just posted in the official Google Mobile blog that they are now offering an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus for only $399 over at the Google Pay Store.

That price translates to about Php17k at current exchange rates. That’s really cheap!

Samsung Galaxy Nexus specs:
4.65″ HD Super AMOLED screen @ 1280×720 (315 ppi)
TI OMAP 4460 1.2GHz dual-core processor
PowerVR SGX540
1GB RAM
16GB and 32GB internal storage
HSPA+ 21Mbps, HSUPA 5.76Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 3.0
NFC
5MP autofocus camera w/ LED flash
1.3MP front-facing camera
1080p video recording at 30fps
1750mAh Li-Ion battery
Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

First available in the U.S., Galaxy Nexus costs $399 and arrives at your door unlocked, without a carrier commitment or contract. You can use it on the GSM network of your choice, including T-Mobile and AT&T. It also comes pre-installed with the Google Wallet app which lets you easily make purchases and redeem offers with a tap of your phone. Best of all, we’ll give you a $10 credit to get you started with your new mobile wallet.

There’s one minor problem though — the devices section of the Google Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/devices) is not available in the Philippines. Either you ask a friend or relative in the US to buy it for you or you can use a US IP address to gain access to that section of the Play Store.

  1. Wait, Galaxy Nexus is exclusive to Smart right?

    • Tanga mo tol. Magbasa basa ka muna ha.

  2. HUH? Galaxy Nexus S is also available on Globe. Tsaka anong konek ng tanong mo? This is an unlocked GSM version, gagana to kahit saang may GSM service at sim card.

    wag aanga-anga teh.

Hahaha.

    • Nexus S – Globe exclusive
      Galaxy Nexus – Smart exclusive

I think what theflo is aiming at is that we may see a price drop from Smart (the only official source of the Galaxy Nexus here in the PH), or maybe they’ll offer it free at a lower plan.

tanong lang sir Abe, kung di available sa PH ung order page, edi di din tayo pwede umorder? despite the fact na pwede taung gumamit ng us IP?

    • Pwede niyo po gawin is mag-proxy to have a US IP address tapos order po kayo gamit is an electronic debit card. Pero ang shipping details po eh iaaddress niyo sa isang forwarder sa US like POBox, Johnny Air Cargo, etc. tapos sila na po bahala magship sa Philippine address niyo. I just don’t remember where pero may article si sir Yuga dito about that.

    • meron dito sa may MOA about Php 26K yata

  6. It should be cheap. It has NO MicroSD card slot.

  8. What are the benefits of an unlocked phone like the GN? It needs a reliable network for you to be connected 24/7 and maximize the use of the phone right?

    • Mark, try kimstore, online store din at 17.7k
