Google’s newest iteration of its Pixel series, the Pixel 4 XL, gets an early hands-on courtesy of NextRift.
Looking at the photos, the device has a matte frame with a glass back with the same matte finish — but with a lighter coating. NextRift said that the back panel feels like the texture of regular glass; however, the advantage here is that it is more resistant to fingerprint marks and smudges.

In front, the phone has a relatively thick bezel that houses the call speaker and a single camera. This could also be a sign that the Project Soli radar technology will be situated here.

Looking to the right shows the typical power button – volume rocker pairing. What’s aesthetically pleasing here is that the power button is covered with orange paint which makes this component stand out.

We assume that the SIM card tray is located on the left given that the top only has the noise-canceling microphone while the bottom has the main microphone, USB Type-C port, and loudspeaker.

The Pixel 4 XL has a 6.23-inch 3040 x 1440 display with Smooth Display feature enabled that allows it to have a 90Hz refresh rate. It can also be dynamically adjusted to and from 60Hz.

Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.

In the camera department, the phone has a 12.2MP rear shooter + another unspecified sensor and 8.1MP front camera. Feature-wise, Google implemented a similar technology to the Face Unlock feature which will require users to rotate their heads when registering their faces. Unfortunately, the physical or in-display fingerprint scanner can’t be found here.

NextRift also said that the camera quality is not yet final as Google is yet to update its software given that the Pixel 4 XL hasn’t been officially launched (check the photos here). NextRift also stated that they are not 100% sure if this is indeed Google’s Pixel 4 XL smartphone but they are “almost certain” that it’s the real deal.
