Recently we reviewed the Huawei nova 7SE 5G and thought it was a really well-rounded device for its price. Now we got our hands on its bigger sibling the Huawei Nova 7 5G and let’s check it out!
Focusing on design, the nova 7 5g is a real head-turner with a 3D glass back sporting a translucent effect—similar to the Nova 7SE. The unit we have is in this Midsummer Purple color with some nova branding all over it, and there are also black and space silver options available.
Flipping to its screen we get a 6.53-inch FHD+ OLED Fullview display with a puch-hole front camera on the upper left. You’ll also find here its in-display fingerprint scanner.
The left side is bare, while located on the right are its power button and volume rocker.
Up top are its secondary mic, 2 antenna bands, and an IR blaster.
Moving over to the bottom, we get a loudspeaker, main microphone, Type-C port, and dual-nano SIM tray.
It runs on Android 10 skinned with EMUI 10.1 so expect it to mainly rely on Huawei’s own app marketplace the AppGallery. As for hardware, the Nova 7 is powered by a HiSilicon Kirin 985 5G chipset with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. As for battery, it has a 4000mAh capacity with Huawei’s 40W SuperCharge.
Putting the spotlight on its cameras, at the back we get a quad-cam setup composed of a 64MP High-Resolution Lens, an 8MP Ultra-wide, an 8MP Telephoto, and a 2MP Macro shooter. Meanwhile, on that hole punch is a 32MP selfie camera.
We’ll go more in-depth on its camera quality in our full review, but for now, take a look at these sample photos.

Hello, Could you confirm if the sensor on top is indeed an IR Blaster and not an Ambient Light sensor? If Possible could you show some demos using the remote control setting if it is indeed an IR Blaster? Thanks! :)
