Huawei P50 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Blind Camera Test Results

In March, we launched a camera blind test between two of the most powerful flagship smartphones in the market: the Huawei P50 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. In that test, we let you, our readers vote on what photo you think is better without knowing which device took it. Now, we’re giving you the results.

Night Mode ON

For our low-light shot with Night Mode on, the results are close but Huawei P50 Pro got 51% of the votes compared to Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra’s 49%.

Night Mode OFF

Next is another low-light shot but this time with Night Mode off. In this case, the Galaxy S21 Ultra got the majority of the votes at 52%.

Normal Mode

Next, we have Normal mode. Since this is the mode that most users will default to using, we had people vote on multiple shots in different scenarios to see if we’ll get any consistency in the results.

For the first sample, the P50 Pro wins by a mile with 70% votes.

For the second sample, the P50 Pro wins again with 52% votes.

For the third, the Galaxy S21 Ultra wins with 55%.

For the fourth, the P50 Pro wins with 58%

For the fifth, it’s the Galaxy S21 Ultra again with 69%.

For the sixth, the P50 Pro wins with 62%

For the seventh, the P50 Pro wins with 78%

For the eighth, the P50 Pro wins again at 69%.

In this case, we can say that the P50 Pro wins in Normal mode, getting the most votes in 6 out of 8 samples.

Zoom

Let’s look at zoom. In 1x, the P50 Pro wins at 86%.

At 10x zoom, the P50 Pro wins at 76%.

For 100x zoom, the P50 Pro wins again at 56% of the votes.

Ultra-wide

For the ultra-wide shot, the Galaxy S21 Ultra wins with 62% of the votes.

Selfie

Looking at the selfie shot, the Galaxy S21 Ultra wins with a landslide of 81%.

HDR

HDR is a handy feature especially if you’re planning on shooting subjects in tricky lighting conditions. In this case, the P50 Pro wins with 63% of the votes.

Aperture

Aperture mode is basically bokeh implementation. In this case, the P50 Pro wins but not by a mile with 52% of the votes.

WINNER: Huawei P50 Pro

For the tally, out of the 17 samples, the Huawei P50 Pro was the most voted in 12 samples. The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra was the most voted in 5 samples. It’s worth noting that the Galaxy S21 Ultra did better in terms of selfies.

It was quite a battle but, in the end, we have a clear winner. Overall, Huawei did an impressive job with the P50 Pro’s cameras. Most of the shots look sharper and more vibrant with very good dynamic range and not to mention, fast auto-focus when we were using the camera app. This is surely a level up within the smartphone photography range.
