There are rumors about Huawei’s plans of joining the Windows Phone 8 bandwagon by unveiling not one but two handsets on September 25. However, as with any speculations, some of these things are not true. So let’s sort out the facts from the not.
The September 25 launch is nothing but hoax. It is confirmed by a Huawei spokesperson that they don’t have any events during the said date. But all is not lost as the company mentioned that they indeed have plans of releasing a WP8 handset which would go by the name of Ascend W1.
Now there are also speculations of another Huawei WP8 handset in the form of Ascend W2. This smartphone is said to be the better of the two and would most likely be the flagship WP8 device to take on the Lumia 920 and HTC 8X. There isn’t any confirmation from the Chinese company about the Ascend W2, but it’ll be the logical thing to do for them considering that both Nokia and HTC have released their own WP8 tandem or they can also do what Samsung did by releasing just one handset.
Not much was revealed about the phones, its price and its availability. All that was confirmed was that they are indeed working on a WP8 device and details about it will be disclosed in time. Our guess is that it’ll be unveiled alongside the General Availability of Windows 8 which is due next month.
