MyPhone partners with SuperD to bring glasses-free 3D handset
During MyPhone’s event yesterday, they mentioned a couple of partnership with other companies to support their plans. One of them is SuperD, a Chinese company specializing in 3D technology.
What MyPhone and SuperD plan to bring in the country is a handset capable of displaying 3D content on the go without the use of any glasses — this is the SuperD D1. As listed on SuperD’s website, the D1 is a mid-range handset built for 3D and VR media consumption.
It’s got an additional front camera along with a dedicated processor for eye-tracking. It is capable of detecting your left and right eyes to activate the 3D display, letting you view content in 3D without the aid of a headset or eyewear.
SuperD D1 specs:
5.5-inch 1080p 3D display, 401ppi
MediaTek MT6750T octa-core processor
Mali-T860 MP2 GPU
3GB / 4GB RAM
32GB / 64GB internal storage
13MP autofocus rear camera w/ LED flash
8MP front-facing camera
GPS w/ A-GPS
Android 6.0 Marshmallow
152 x 75.7 x 8.9 mm
SuperD is also planning to bring its VR headset for the D1 to jump-start the VR experience of consumers. (Controller not included)
No definite local pricing yet for the Super D1 and the VR bundle but MyPhone will carry the handset for a Philippine release sometime in December. In China, the handset is priced at 1199 Yuan or around Php8,600 before any other fees.
