New LG Chocolate BL40 unboxed, in the flesh

Listen to article

LG’s latest fashion phone is out and we got a a unit for review today. The new LG Chocolate BL40 truly reminds you of a nice bar of dark chocolate. Check out our unboxing photos after the jump.

We reported last month that these phones were already in display in stores but LG has not actually officially launched it. The indicated price ranges between Php26k to Php30k but SRP is not yet final.

This is probably the tallest phone we’ve seen in years and already thin at 10.9mm. The display features capacitive touchscreen so no stylus here. The bubbles on the phone’s screen is due to clumsy application of a 3rd-party screen protector which also affected the brightness and glossy finish of the display (I’m tempted to peel it off).

Since it’s gearing up to be a multimedia phone, we’ll see how it fares in a week or two. Will post a full review soon. Will update this entry once we get the final SRP.

Update: LG clarified that it’s out and already selling in stores now. The suggested retail price for the LG Chocolate BL40 is Php27,900.

Guys, the OS on this one is the S-Class Touch UI. Same one found in LG Arena and LG Crystal.

It looks like a mini LG Scarlet TV :P hehe. But I’m curious about the OS, though.

Abe,

What’s the OS on this thing, Symbian? What media (especially video)file types are supported?

It looks too thin. Reminds me of my old Nokia 6210, when it first came out.

I’m gonna have a hard time holding this phone in public or private but what the heck, it’s a beauty and the features are great as well.let’s just hope the camera is something to look forward to and the battery life as well.

P.S. and also the S-class interface should be snappier than previous LG handsets.

Screen size is big but my concern is the width! It seems to be too small IMHO.

Judging from the display resolution, I think users will have a better Internet experience with this phone than most of the other units marketed these days.
