Listen to article

Nokia has launched the Lumia 510 today in India – a 4-inch Windows Phone 7 device with an affordable price tag.

The Nokia Lumia 510 confirms rumors that have been circulating since last month that Nokia is planning to release a new entry-level Windows Phone smartphone that will sit comfortably with the Lumia 610 and Lumia 710.

The Lumia 510 carries a 4-inch WVGA (480 x 800) display, a 5 megapixel autofocus camera, 800MHz Qualcomm processor, 256MB RAM, 4GB internal storage (non-expandable) and a 1300mAh battery. The Lumia 510 currently runs on Windows Phone 7.5 but is ready to receive the 7.8 version once released.

It will be available in India, China, South America, and Asia in November with a price tag of around $205 or Php8,400.

Windows phone 7 and higher versions doesnt need a huge amount of RAM to function fluidly. WP operating system is much more optimize compared to android. Thats the big difference to android phones. Im a wp and android owner.

One thing that WP lacks, the scarcity of decent apps compared to thousands of decent, usable, free android apps.

And here I thought the non-expandable 8GB memory of the 610 and 710 was already troubling.

oh my, 256 mb of RAM with that expensive price?
you can already buy a dual core 1Ghz processor Android phone with that amount.

you have better options buying the upcoming
Starmobile Astra or Bright
Myphone A878/upcoming A898
you can even buy an Android phone with Lenovo’s A60+ with just 4900 and still have a decent specs.

Always keep in mind that you’re not the only consumer in town, honey.

Nokia’s non Android/Windows phone are still selling and so is Blackberry because there’s still a market for it.

$199 for a decent Android is debatable.

But $199 for a Lumia 510 is a dealbreaker when the Lumia 610 has higher specs with the same price range.

True to that! Pag na release na yan dito baka umabot pa yan ng 10k+ samantalang you can buy the Lumia 610 or 710 8k+ with higher specs. Tsktsk

Ew. What’s the point of this really ? We couldn’t care less about the 199 price tag. You can get a decent Android phone for that price.
