An article on OnePlus’ community website revealed the end of their partnership with Hasselblad. Their collaboration started five years ago with the OnePlus 9 series and has ended with the OnePlus 13.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has announced that they are now focusing on their own imaging system, the OnePlus DetailMax Engine. He explained that this will take advantage of stronger processing power and advanced algorithms to deliver better images.
Lau added that he is already testing a prototype himself with promising results. He noted that we’re in a new era of computational imaging, aiming to capture and interpret data clearer than before.
The engine was designed from scratch with the end goal of showing scenes as they are, without beautification or distortion. Reports have noted that their new system is expected to debut with the OnePlus 15.
While OnePlus is moving on, Lau thanked Hasselblad for their craft, trust, and delivering on every promise. Still, Hasselblad imaging will still be integrated in the upcoming OPPO Find X9 series devices.
