OPPO F1 Review

Performance and Benchmarks

Powering the device Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz, Adreno 405 GPU, and 3GB RAM (same configuration as the ASUS Zenfone Selfie). Performance is good all throughout and we never experienced any lags, crashes, or random reboots even when gaming. Multitasking is smooth thanks to the above-average 3GB RAM. Check out the benchmarks below.

* AnTuTu – 35,031
* Quadrant Standard – 21,910
* Vellamo – 1,758 (Multicore), 1,199 (Metal), 2,302 (Chrome)
* 3DMark – 476 (Sling Shot ES 3.0)

Connectivity and Call Quality

When it comes to connectivity, the OPPO F1 supports 4G LTE, dual-SIM, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, and USB OTG. What’s missing though is NFC which is not really a big deal. Do note though that you will have to sacrifice microSD card support if you want to use two SIMs. Voice calls and mobile data, on the other hand, worked as advertised. Just make sure that you’re in an area where coverage is good.

Battery Life

If there’s probably one thing that is a bit lacking on the OPPO F1 is its 2,500mAh battery. It should last you 8 to 9 hours if you’re just using it for light tasks such as WiFi browsing, social media apps, and some calls and texts. Expect a shorter lifespan if you’re into heavy mobile data and gaming. That said, better take advantage of its battery saving feature or bring a power bank with you always.

Using PCMark benchmark tool, it was rated at 7 hours and 31 minutes, while in our video loop test which involves playing a 1080p file on loop in Airplane mode at 50% brightness and volume with headset plugged in and we got 10 hours and 6 minutes worth of playback.

Conclusion

OPPO has a strong offering with the F1. The company markets it as a selfie smartphone but we don’t see it that way probably because it doesn’t have a flamboyant front camera setup like the ASUS Zenfone Selfie and Sony Xperia C5 Ultra. Still, the OPPO F1 proved to be a good imaging device with a premium build and design, good performance, and a reasonable Php11,990 price tag. If you’re looking for a phone with the said strengths, the OPPO F1 is definitely worth considering.

      The wannabe socialites who prefer a shiny metal phone in gold or pink.

      It costs less than one third of an iPhone 6s while looking practically the same from the rear, minus the OPPO branding.

      Para sakin reasonable sia: metal body instead na cheap plastic, s616 na mas bago, 3 gb ram gorilla glass 4, etc. It’s not about being coppy card but we know that metal body is much sturdy than cheap plastic.
