Pro1-X: a smartphone by XDA, powered by LineageOS or Ubuntu Touch OS

XDA Developers has recently partnered with F(x)tec for the Pro1-X, a smartphone powered by either LineageOS, Android, or Ubuntu Touch OS.

The Pro1-X comes with up to 8GB RAM, up to 256GB storage, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. It is a sliding smartphone that reveals a 66-key full QWERTY keyboard underneath its 5.99-inch AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass. It supports dual SIMs and has an 8MP front camera. It also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB-Type C port. As for its dual rear cameras, it has a 12MP main and 5MP secondary sensors.

The smartphone has a 3,200mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 and support to USB Power Delivery in terms of battery.

The Pro1-X comes with LineageOS 16 out of the box. However, an update to v17.1 (based on Android 10) is already available for download. To turn the smartphone into a Linux desktop, users may connect an HDMI to USB Type-C cable from a secondary display to the smartphone.

XDA also shared that they are currently developing support for SailfishOS and Windows.

The F(x)tec Pro1-X is currently available through Indiegogo. Available in Sapphire Blue, the Pro1-X 8GB + 256G is priced at USD 899. Its 6GB + 128GB variant retails for USD 829. The early promo places both variants for USD 679 and USD 649, respectively.
