Processor giant Qualcomm made waves recently with the announcement of its Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset. This move aims to bolster the brand’s position within the midrange smartphone space through performance upgrades and increased AI support.
On a technical level, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 comes packing with a 2.3 GHz Kryo processor, supported by Adreno graphics. The company promises gains of 11% on the CPU side and 29% for GPU-intensive tasks over its predecessor. More importantly, it can perform for longer thanks to an advertised increase in power efficiency of 12%.
Marketing for the chipset boasts noticeable benefits for various demographics – whether that be the everyday power user, working professionals, or even for gamers.
In addition to those mentioned, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 also touts wireless lossless audio courtesy of Qualcomm aptX and Snapdragon Sound. AI innovation, meanwhile, is handled by on-device Gen AI support as well as first-in-series compatibility for INT4 precision.
Finally, photos in less-than-ideal lighting conditions will have the support of Snapdragon Low Light Vision (SLLV), which aims to reduce the noise and grain that often plague these images.
Expect the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 to release within mid-market devices this year.
