Qualcomm finally confirmed and will officially reveal the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset on November 26 in China. This new chip sits right below the top-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, giving brands a powerful but slightly more affordable flagship option.
Qualcomm already shared some key details. The 8 Gen 5 is built on a 3nm process and uses the company’s custom Oryon CPU. It features a 3.8GHz prime core and 3.32GHz performance cores. For graphics, it runs the Adreno 840 GPU, which is similar to the Elite’s version but tuned a bit lower at 1.2GHz.
Early benchmarks are strong. The chip reportedly scores 3.3 million on AnTuTu, around 3,000 (single-core) and 10,000 (multi-core) on Geekbench 6, and hits 100 FPS on the Aztec 1440p test. The first phones to use the 8 Gen 5 include the OnePlus Ace 6T, vivo S50 Pro Mini, and the upcoming HONOR GT 2.
